Game changer.
Had one 30 years ago but lost it. I removed the second alt on my Ram 2500 but had a bear of a time getting back on without this. So second time around, I remembered I had one and bought this one again. There are other things you can stick between the belt and the pulley but this just works so well. Makes the job much easier, especially when dealing with awkward Alternator that's in a hard to reach location.

Industrial forklift mechanics heads up
Bought this to use on 2.4L stretch belts on yellow forklifts (if you know you know). Had to modify my cutting off removal side of tool. WORKS GREAT NOW! Worth every penny makes installing those belts so much easier. Definitely recommend.

It worked, but it was HARD to do.
Cheap device, and it didn't break. But man, it was a whole afternoon of hard labor. The magnet was meaningless - the forces involved are way too strong for the magnet to help with anything meaningful. The device did not fit where it said we should use it, but we did manage to find a pulley we could get it around to get the old belt off, and another pulley we could get it around to get the new one one. Fair warning: it took two or three passes to get the new belt all the way seated in the grooves. Now, the fact that it was hours of back-breaking work was not the fault of this little device. I love my Mazda5, but it is foolishness for any manufacturer to fit a stretch belt instead of JUST PUTTING A STINKIN' TENSIONER PULLEY ON IT! But as long as you're stuck with changing a stretch belt, and you're willing to spend your time and knuckle skin to save the cost of hiring a mechanic, there's a good chance this thing will help you out.

Must have tool for mechanic
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great addition to my toolbag. Helps remove and install stretch belts on a multitude of vehicles. Heavy duty metal for longevity and great value for the money.

Very effective tool
I hate stretch belts. But what I hate more is doing stretch belts without the right tool. This wont work for every application, but it works for most of the ones that don't have a specific tool. Works on the Kia/Hyundai with stretch belt. It works on some Mazda. I will not work for BMW, Ford Fiesta. Those have specific tools. I have not tried it on the new Chevys with the AC stretch belts, but I have used the Gates 91030 for that application. The tool will go on the back of the crank. It's fiddly but that was the only way I was able to do it. This Lisle tool may work for the Chevys if it fits behind the crank pulley.Anyway great must have tool for annoying stretch belts. It has a magnet, unlike the Gates 91030, which helps when using it.

Doesn’t work on Silverado belts.
The quality of the tool itself is solid, but the magnet as noted by others is not very strong! Be aware that it will not work on the newer 2019 up Silverado’s.
