Does there always have to be two discard piles?

The rules state there should be 2 discard piles. I don't see why with a 2 player game you couldn't try it with one. It just lowers pick up options.

This game is for 2-7 players. The first printing had a misprint.

Could a very bright 5 year old play this game?

Yes. They might need a little help from someone older with strategy advice, but once they’ve played it a few times, they catch on. Our 5 year old plays when we play as a family. I doubt a group of 5 year old friends could play it on their own though.
