Must have!!
This Murphy bed is perfect! We got the queen size in white, and it completely transformed our space. The bed folds up smoothly and allows us to use the room for both an office and a guest room. When it’s down, it’s sturdy and comfortable, and when it’s up, it looks sleek and saves so much space. The white finish matches easily with any décor and makes the room feel bright and open. Assembly took some time, but the instructions were clear. Excellent quality and a great solution for dual-use rooms! Comfortably fits/hold the weight of 2 adults and a toddler.

Nice looking and easy to use, not so much to install.
This is a nice looking, sturdy murphy bed. It's also massive and takes some strength and skills to assemble. It came in 4 boxes, both large and heavy. The delivery guy helped me enter them in the room (which has a door on the driveway) otherwise it would have been already a problem. Overall it took me several days (not continuous) mostly by myself. A skilled and strong person can assemble it alone. Another person help in a couple of point doesnt hurt. Be aware that the instructions call for anchoring on the wall (against studs) AND on the floor (both on the floor itself and at the base of the wall). The problem with anchoring at the base of the wall is that the holes in the metal frame are pre-drilled, so if the holes are not (they won't be) corresponding to a stud and you do not have masonry or wood there you are out of luck. I opted to install just on the wall and the floor, and I think it should be enought. The final assembly of the doors is the most complicated part because the instructions are nor very detailed and because you have to drill and anchor the doors without knowing where they will actually be positioned. On customer service, I needed help with the instructions and a missing minor piece (one of the slats): in both case I was able to speak to the manufacturer's representatives (number provided) and they were able to explain what wasn't clear and send the replacement part free of charge (they actually sent 2). It's not everyday that you can speak to live person, so that's a strong quality point. TLDR: nice and sturdy but assembly is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced.

Beautiful Murphy Bed
This bed is beautiful. It took us some time to put together, due to instructions not very good. Once it was put together it is so beautiful. We have received so many compliments on it. If looking for a Murphy bed I highly recommend this one.

Takes a few hours to assembly even with 2 people.
Great product and not to bad to assembly. We only made one mistake in assembly and were able to easily fix it. Seems very sturdy.

Heavier than one would imagine.
Heavy, write that down. This is a very heavy, pretend wood, Ikea-like Bed. The instructions are just ok and leave a lot to be desired. You really need to study the small, yet detailed pictures to avoid a teardown-start-over situation in the frame. There are parts, significant parts left over which you will need to scour the manual to find out why they were not used. The pretend wood chips easily, but then all pretend wood chips easily. Once you're finished the minor wood chipping fades into the background. Notwithstanding, pretend wood of any variety or manufacturer feels like it is waterlogged, part of what makes this kit heavy. To the several "I'm a 40 year old female" who said it was easy and they finished it in one day - well I'm sceptical. The darned thing comes in 4 boxes and with packing weighs close to 400lbs. One box is 138 LBS, and this is a Queen size. Ok, 138 pounds is modestly challenging when it is on a bar with weights on either end, but this is a large cardboard box with no handles. I'm capable of lifting 100lbs but this is clumsy and myself and another man had to dead lift it to get it into my home. If you install this upstairs, have some extra help, Gatoraid and Pizza. The way this works is the visible part, the pretend wood does nothing to hold or support the bed, it is just a facade, a nice facade but not a structural component. To hold the bedframe in place, they provide massive bolts 4" (102mm) that you need to drive into the sill plate, 6 times. Don't start this without an impact driver. Wear hearing protection. The hardware holding the front panels seems weak to me, they give you 5 places to tie it into the metal bed frame but the screws just barely catch the pretend wood and strip easily, as pretend wood tends to do. Longer screws would have been better. The handles for the pull-down could use some fender washers to take some of the burden off the tiny screws. The bed pulls down with some effort and there is a lot of force on the small screw heads holding the front handles on the pretend wood. Also, about the parts - I called customer support and it said something about 5 minute hold. Ok, go about my work. Then the message came on and it said something about leaving a message and they were terminating the call. It said it in French but didn't complete before it hung up. I assumed I misheard and dialed back. The message said it would hang up after 5 minutes (!) but I can leave a message, right?? Nope, it hit's five minutes and drops the call. Amazing.

Terrible experience, very disappointed, BESTAR Model 26184-4, Color 0017
Five parts were damaged when the original shipment was received (including the two large front facing facades). Three additional shipments were sent until all parts were replaced (each shipment contained at least two new facades). When the call was made to report the first shipment being damaged, I asked if BESTAR would have the existing shipment hauled away, they said no. In the end I had six facades and other damaged parts laying in my garage for which I had to cut down for the garbage service to haul away. At one point I was told the replacement shipment would be sent after I returned from out of town (as discussed via multiple chat sessions with Lucy at BESTAR). To my surprise, one shipment was sitting upright on my porch when I returned (sitting for a day or two on the porch). While that part was not damaged as the other facades that were sent, it was warped. In some cases, the video instruction of the install was not in-line with the instructions. In fact, the instructions themselves are misleading in a few areas. For example, referring to step 9 on installing the metal base such that it touches the two wooden dowels on each side; while this step worked, the moment you swing the bed frame up, the base (after being attached to the wall and floor) does not align against the pins any longer. It is my opinion after trying several times to get the alignment correct (and could not), that this movement is part of the design as the caps that install over the strut bolts (later in step 22) would not fit if the frame stayed against the dowels per the instruction; yet the instruction says nothing about the alignment moving (so trying several times to get the base to realign against the pins is futile). Another example, the small shelf (part 83) is installed such that it is resting on dowels of part 70 rather than being drilled to fit over the dowels (steps 2 and 3 parts 83 and 70). This results in the shelf sagging when the unit is complete, a few 90-degree brackets on the back were required to address this. And another example, step 25 states to install part 80 which is prior to installing the facades. However, you cannot mount the facades with part 80 installed. Fortunately, it is removable, but the instruction says nothing about removing it before lifting the heavy facades. The quality of the laminate application is not very good. In several places it was never painted and shows a yellowish color (not white), several of the edges are peeled off, the gaps between the boards looks poor, and when closing the bed the screw head on the leg (installed in step 21) rubs the white frame damaging the laminate; in this case the bed frame could not be aligned to center (even when following the NOTICE in step 19 and removing and adjusting the bed frame). Also note that once the façades are installed, you cannot move the bed left to right to address this without removing the facades (which then requires reinstalling the facades by drilling new holes through the frame). Finally, I have a 12-inch 70 lb mattress and when closed the mattress slides down immediately (even with the velcro wrap engaged and the short KI-985-E supports installed) and gets caught on the shelf (part 70) such that you cannot open the bed unless you lift the mattress out while pulling the bed down, a 2-person job.

Pleasantly surprised
For background I'm a woman in my 40s, and was able to install this completely by myself in a few hours. The bed came in 4 huge very heavy boxes. I needed someone to help lift them into my house and in an adjoining room to where I wanted to install the bed. It is well packed with lots of cardboard and styrofoam surrounding the items. Nothing was damaged in transit. The material is particleboard, but very thick and study and when assembled it looks nice and is better quality than I was expecting. I have children and was worried about them being able to open it themselves, but the handles are high up, and requires adult strength to pull open and hold up while moving supporting bar around the mattress, my very strong 8 year old could not do independently. I was nervous to put this together by myself based on the reviews, but the directions were simple and easy to follow and required minimal tools. I used the mattress I had purchased to hold the bed open when required (while still in box), a second person was not actually necessary for anything other than lifting the boxes inside my home. I was also nervous about the mattress fitting and the 10 inch pillow top that I purchased fits with ease under the supporting frame. I do not think a thicker mattress will fit, however. Because I installed it on carpet I have to plane the bottom molding as it pops off when I open the bed due to the carpet height underneath. This wouldn't be a problem when installing on other flooring.

Install was difficult but happy with product.
Looks nice and functions well. Not easy to assemble at all. Securing it to the floor and base of wall was nerve wracking and instructions didn’t really explain how important getting it well secured was. It focused on securing the wood frame to the wall more and that really wasn’t important compared to securing the mattress frame to the floor. Hoping it lasts a long time because it’s a very permanent addition to the room.
