MOUNTAINTOP 55L/65L Internal Frame Backpack Hiking Backpack with Rain Cover

I purchased this for my daughter for weekend backpacking trips. The adjustable shoulder straps are wonderful since she is 10. It is also very light weight. The only problem that I have with the backpack is that the waist strap doesn't tighten down enough to fit her waist. It is like they decided to create an adjustable shoulder height without any regard to a persons waist size. Not everyone in the US has a large waist. I also tried it on and I was unable to adjust it small enough for my waist 26". The weight needs to be able to sit on your waist. We are keeping it only because we have no choice due to time. Waist measurements need to be included for ordering as well as looking into more adjusting options in the future. The waist pouches are nice but not more important than a good fit. We hooked clips to the loops near the front pouches that the front backpack clips attaches to and it is almost a fit around her waist. For larger women and men this would be a great backpack. It is also made well.

I got this backpack because I was going on my first backpacking trip and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on something I didn’t know if I would like or not. This pack carried 3 gallons (there was no water where we went) of water along with everything I needed for the weekend. It was extremely heavy (do to all the water) but my pack and I made it with no problems. After a few adjustments I was comfortable. While I wanted a more purple-ish color the purple grayish color it comes it prevents it from looking too dirty. I will be using this pack until it dies.

Even though I have to return this pack, I'm leaving it good feedback because it is an economical option with lots of storage options. I am 5'10" and it was no where close to long enough for me. It is also no where close to small enough at the hip belt to cinch down to provide any support. So if you are tall, have a long torso, or a smaller waist/hips, keep looking. Also, it doesn't have a true internal frame as advertised, so if that is something you want, keep looking.

I ordered 3 different 65L backpacks by 3 different well known manufacturers to compare features. All 3 had good features, but the mountaintop had the most accessible pockets, including hip pockets; and good hardware such as YKK zippers and clasps. The mountaintop was also very light and easy to see inside and the material was durable but comfortable (not scratchy and tough). The mountaintop was also the least expensive. Overall i found the Mountaintop to be the best overall value for the price. I have ordered another Mountaintop for my husband and we are recommending this to our traveling companions.

I haven't taken this out on an actual backpacking trip; that's at the end of this month and I'll update then. But at first glance, this backpack is amazing. I have Osprey, Mountainsmith, and Camelbak backpacks now - various sizes. This Mountaintop feels the best of all. My plan is to use this backpack for the first few multiday trips and upgrade when I need to. I honestly hope that's never because this one feels so comfortable. Update (and photos) to come ...

I was hesitant to purchase this, but based on the other reviews I decided to give it a try. It is made with very high quality material! It is super sturdy as well. Lots of pocket spaces and weight distribution is amazing! I might go back and purchase one of their bigger or smaller ones as well.

Went backpacking for a month in Europe and this bag did phenomenal. Comfortable,durable and spacious. I’ll be using it as a hiking/camping bag soon as well. One dislike if I’m being picky is that sometimes it squeaks up top. Not sure if that is user error or not though.

I am a very small girl. 5'2 about 100 pounds and this was an amazing bag. I used it for over a month and backpacked Europe. Worth it!
