Meidong QQChocolate Bluetooth Speakers Portable Waterproof Shower Wireless Speaker with 3D Stereo Bass Sound for Indoor Outdoor

OK, this is a review of Meidong QQChocolate, which is a portable Bluetooth speaker system. I have to specify what I’m reviewing, as Amazon has been grouping together reviews for different products, which leads to some real confusion…(so now you know exactly what I am reviewing)My first impression was that it was bigger and heavier than I expected it to be. That’s a good thing, as you typically can’t get decent sound quality out of speakers that are small OR light.I’m not going to list features, as that is all in the description. It can produce music from sources connected by Bluetooth or aux audio cable. What more do you need to know on features? OK, so it has a battery that allows it to play about 5 hours on a charge, and re-charges in about 8 hours.I will instead focus on what matters in a review like this, and that is sound quality. I am a true audiophile, who does not just appreciate good sound quality. I have an excellent ear for TONE. I’m one of the few people who can properly adjust an equalizer to achieve a true “flat” sound out of a speaker system, if the speaker system is capable of achieving a true “flat” sound. To get that flat sound, you need the right amount of low (bass), mid and high (treble) sounds, without over-emphasizing any particular frequency.The good:This is actually a pretty decent speaker for “personal” use. You will enjoy using this to watch movies on a cell phone or listen to music, if you are the type (like me) who hates wearing headphones but wants a portable way to get BETTER sound out of a cell phone or laptop. Note I recommend it for PERSONAL use only.The bad:The overall sound level is not very loud. In order to hear the full spectrum of sound it is capable of producing, you will want to stay within arm’s reach of this speaker. You could maybe use this speaker to share a movie (like on a laptop computer) with a friend of yours, if the friend was sitting right next to you. Forget about broadcasting music to several people, or trying to provide music at a pool party or anything like that. It has enough volume to be used in a small, quiet area by just a few people, at best.The Mediocre:First, you need to understand about low (bass) frequencies…You typically need a speaker with at least one driver that is 4” or larger to accurately produce low frequency sound at acceptable volume levels. Speaker manufacturers do have some “tricks” that they can use to make a smaller speaker sound larger, though. Like if you use multiple drivers. Example: TWO (active) 3” drivers can produce about the same amount of bass that a single (active) 4” driver can produce. Or you can use sound pressure from (active) drivers to work a (passive) driver / radiator, to produce more bass. You can also play tricks with the enclosure to make a smaller driver produce more low frequency output. Meidong tried a couple of different “tricks” to make these tiny drivers produce some acceptable low-frequency output. Did they succeed?Not really.If you play with equalizers, you can get a DECENT (and relatively flat) sound out of this speaker. But it won’t play flat at more than a mid-level volume. If you want it loud, it’s going to sound “bright” / tinny.Now you CAN add extra bass (low sounds) quite easily to produce a louder output with more bass. But that’s annoying. Many people make the mistake of just turning up the bass NO MATTER WHAT, thinking that MORE bass is better sound quality. Not really. Unless your system has accurate output, the LAST thing you want is MORE bass!!!I can use EQ to add gobs of extra bass to the Meidong QQChocolate, if I choose to. But that’s not improving the sound quality. It’s just adding more NOISE / Distortion. If you add too much bass, you are causing the music to sound muddy.There is a fine line between cranking up the bass and MURDERING your favorite music. Many people make the mistake of adding way too much bass, thinking that will sound better, somehow. But you are adding detail to the music or movie soundtrack that was not there when the sounds were recorded.Bottom line, it sounds OK if you don’t add too much bass to it, and if you are OK with it playing at low volume levels.From many reviews and my own personal research, it has come to my attention that this speaker is sold under different brand names. I suspect I have seen this speaker listed under at least 4 brand names, in fact. But the only brand I have been able to confirm is “Willnorn”. Until recently, Amazon sold this exact same speaker branded “Willnorn” (SoundPlus is the Willnorm model…it has added NFC and seems to have a larger battery). Right now, as I write this, Amazon has other “Willnorn” brand speakers for sale, but not the one that is identical to the Meidong QQChocolate. Anyway, under various brands I have seen this speaker listed (Amazon and other places) for as low as 10 bucks and as high as 30 bucks. If you carefully study the exterior features and the pictures promoting Bluetooth speakers, it becomes obvious that this specific speaker is sold under various names, with a wide range of prices, and only a minimal amount of difference, as far as features go. Ironically, the one with the best mix of features is the lowest cost, too.Two points to add. There is a newer version called Meidong MD-05, and Amazon sells it. It is rounded (not a brick anymore), and it is currently cheaper.Also, when my wife first spotted this thing it was sitting on our bed. She asked, "What is that?" So I fired up Jordin Sparks on my cell phone which was paired to the QQ Chocolate. As soon as she heard it she fell in love with it. She is not an audiophile but it sounds Great to her. In fact, she stole it and now I might never hear it again. :(Oh well...have to go order the MD05 now, I guess. (!!!)

It's quite small, yet powerful!I'm really comparing this to Laud shower Bluetooth speaker, and a large waterproof Bluetooth speaker. The Laud speaker is quite useless in the shower. I can't hear any talk, so no podcasts or news, and I can barely hear music when it- and my phone - are on maximum volume.The large speaker is amazing, it's quite loud but it's large!This one is the perfect size and functionality. It is small enough to fit on the edge of the tub, yet loud enough to hear talk shows and music. It also has a mic to enable communicating with my phone while in the shower, unlike my large speaker.Unlike both the small and large speakers, this QChocolate one has separate buttons for going to the previous song and the next song than the volume down and up buttons. I inevitably always end up adjusting the volume by mistake instead of repeating or skipping a song, so this is a huge plus for me!Another thing I love is that they provide an auxiliary cable to connect your speaker with a Bluetooth-less device, which is always delightful! Just be mindful not to subject the speaker to water if you use this option, because you'd be exposing the compartment that is supposed to be sealed.Lastly, I am someone who gets migraine-triggered by flashing lights, and this speaker speaks my language! It has a solid (not flashing light) while charging, and a solid light when playing. Neither of my two other speakers has that. It's always a challenge to cover the flashing light or turn the speaker over to make sure I don't get a migraine.This speaker has so many advantages over so many other speakers I have used. The video will show the sound quality and volume so that you know what to expect! Given all of that, I definitely highly recommend it!

So I had this speaker for about a month now and WOW! Im very impressed about the sound quality this little speaker puts out! It's amazing. If you get this speaker I do not think you will be disappointed! Sound is so clear and crisp and the bass has a good balance where it does not sound distorted when you crank the volume to its max. The bass doesnt sound dull or muffled. The battery life is definitely another PLUS! I listen to music at least an hour a day on this speaker and I believe its been my 2 weeks without charge. Battery is lasting longer then my expectation. Even at high volume. The speaker quality didnt feel cheap to me. I seems to have a high quality material with rubberized buttons for a good grip when carrying around to anywhere. I would definitely buy another one of these if it ever gets damaged or stolen. For almost $15 bucks is a steal. The sound and quality of this speaker seem like it could be worth at least $40 or $50 bucks IMO. Must buy!

He takes it all over the house and uses it daily. The sound quality and levels are amazing! Considering how light and small this speaker is, it's extraordinary how much sound it can project. This was a great purchase!

If I could rate more than 5 stars durability, I would. I have had this speaker for more than four years and the charge still lasts half a day using BT; more when using AUX. The micro SD card slot in the back has never worked for me, however. This thing is almost waterproof. I've had it fall into rivers, off houses, down stairs, and it traveled across country with me. The rubber deals at the top and bottom are perfect for absorbing impact & can be removed and replaced easily. 10/10 speaker for a cheap price.

Am happy with my purchase was skeptical about buying as got it in a lightning deal bought it anyway .. didn't disappoint at all .. really good quality for a Bluetooth in this range ..battery life is really good if u dont listen on highest volume

Haven't checked water resistant feature. But working great for my office conference on laptop as it has sufficient loudness. Great product. Bought for around 800 and i must say its mind blowing in the price range. Must try its wonderful performance. Tried jbl in similar price range but this is much better.

If you want to listen to audiobooks, podcasts or news? then this speaker is very good, for music I found it a bit tinny and harsh though it has a bit of a bass as compared to it's size. Battery is really good! there's a small issue with it's bluetooth, it takes a bit longer to connect automatically, but it's manageable. Overall it is a good speaker, go for it if you get it below 1000 rupees..

I've been using this speaker for couple weeks before posting this review. Speaker is of good quality and bass is acceptable for a small heavy speaker. I think we all like these smaller speakers to be louder, but sadly they don't go that loud. Where I work is fairly noisy and speaker is drowned out at full volume. On that note this speakers volume is more than acceptable in a small room 12x12. I give this a 4 star because the sellers ad says 10 hour battery life and in next paragraph says 8 hours battery life. Which is it? Well I had it cranked full volume at work and it lasted not much over 5 hours before it died. I'm happy with speaker but would not buy another for my use. Using usb to charge takes long time up to 8 hours to fully charge.I would have liked to sone sort of bag to house it in.
