Kikkerland Concrete Desktop Planter, Small (PL02-S)

I payed close attention to the size and intended to use a fake succulent, so this came exactly as expected and looks super cute on my desk.But this will not work well for real succulents. The section for planting is only about 1.5" square, so even if you can find a plant to fit in there, it will quickly outgrow it. On top of that, there is no drainage, so your plant will rot. Water will seep through the concrete, but that doesn't replace a drain hole, and the seepage is awful for something meant to sit on your desk. Concrete planters should be waterproofed and have a drainage hole + saucer. This has neither.Stick to a tiny fake plant and you'll love it!

Commentary: Looks great! It is smaller than I pictured in my head but the dimensions are properly listed on this page. I was just hoping it would be slightly bigger to hide an outlet on my desk at work. I might buy another one to extend. It really looks nice. I like this product. At a $24 pricing point on Amazon, I don't love it. By the time you buy succulents you've spent $35-40 on a mini planter.Points awarded: One point/star deduction due to the product pictures not showing the pourous concrete state when water fills it. (Water stains show temporarily on the concrete after watering). Succulents need a drainage hole overall, to thrive. Knowing this, I can't award a full five stars but it gets a solid 4/5. It's also pretty shallow at only over an inch. Would be better sealed with drain holes.

Words cannot describe how much I love this little planter! It is exactly as advertised, it is such a great statement piece for a dull office desk. It does not have drainage holes, and concrete is very porous, so as I plan on displaying business cards on it, I may have to seal it (but that would take away from the rustic, unfinished look!), but I don't even care, it's perfect for my office and my style. It came very well protected in styrofoam and bubble wrap, and it even has little anti-scratch bumpers on the bottom. I love love love it!

Love these. I used these for clients as advertising. The structure is a nice smooth concrete. I opted for artificial succulents which is probably best. I used a floral foam on the bottom then rocks then my plants. The container also had soft stickies on the bottom which I wasn't expecting. Ill be buying more. Hope this helps invision if this product is best for yourself.

Though I really like the design of this product, I am a little disappointed. It's listed as "ideal for succulents", but the planting space is very shallow and has no drainage. Anyone who grows succulents knows how important drainage is for these plants, and I think it's misleading to list and display this product with succulents. I can see it being used as a simple statement piece, but if you're looking for something that will allow your plants to flourish, this isn't it. There simply isn't enough room and no drainage means succulents are very likely to rot. I also think this product is quite overpriced, though it does seem like high quality material.
