I read all of the reviews and took note of the problems people had. I could see how people would have trouble. But I followed all of the directions, used the manufacturers recipe and my little machine worked GREAT. I did use a piping bag and I think that also contributed to my success. Oiling properly and using the correct amount of batter seem to be key. They are small but perfect for one person. Freezing for toasting later is a great way to use the extra. They also make great ice cream sandwiches.

I see a lot of people who seem unhappy with the size of the waffle this makes, but I knew right what I was getting into- I love waffles and pancakes and always wanted to try a "Hong Kong style" egg waffle. I'm still not convinced I have, but it's the right size for those times when I want something sweet without having to make a huge calorie bomb. It's kind of a bummer that there's no adjustable thermostat, and that it doesn't beep at you when it's done cooking, but those are features you're more likely to find on full-size wafflemakers. Using your own timer, you can get desirable results- the waffles pictured here were my first try, at 3 and 3.5 minutes each. It would be nice if it were balanced to flip over during the cook, so the batter has a better chance of settling evenly into the dome shapes. But again, mini wafflemakers are short on big features. I am a little disappointed that they claim you can store it on its side when not in use- I mean, it might have the right shape for that, but there's nothing to hold the thing shut, it just flops open unless you tie it shut with its own power cord. And I think it would have been nice if they included some unconventional Hong Kong street vendor-style waffle recipes with the cooker, instead of familiar stuff like buttermilk and chocolate. But hey, it does the job. For what little it does, they could stand to charge a little less for it, but the essential waffle experience is all here.

I really wanted a smaller bubble waffle maker than the huge ones, but this one makes tiny waffles, smaller than the size of my palm !! The waffle doesn't really get cooked too well with toppings and is hard to close since the toppings overfill the waffle maker 😕

I had some buyer's remorse, even after knowing this would be a mini waffle maker. I did over-shop that time and yes, for a while I liked that mini waffles mean smaller portions, but I was not into their batter recipes in their booklet (and of course I already had a playlist on YouTube for some bubble waffle batter). For numerous months, I just didn't touch the appliance after all I did besides reading its manual was dusting the iron off the day it arrived to me. Just this past month did I finally think of who I could gift it to: a good neighbor buddy with small children and where most adults do some cooking or baking foods often. It's a good gift for such families. I hope it's been working well for them.
