I installed this on a gate to our privacyfence about a year agao. Directions were a little confusing at first. This manual lock, functions without flaws. The harsh weather has not phased the functions or looks of this lock.

This lock is exactly what we wanted for our gate with the big exception that it is defective. It installed fairly easily and worked immediately after install, but 24hr later it didn't work at all. When we pushed the buttons with our code, they were soft and not engaging. The lock would not unlock with the code. My husband removed the lock and tried adjusting the pins after which it worked until he put it back up again and we had the same issue. With all the bad reviews, I was hesitant to order the lock but there weren't any other options with good reviews on black locks of this type. We contacted the seller Bestlead and received no response. We are returning this item and will have to come up with another solution. It was tempting to try a replacement, but with other reviews saying it stopped working after 3 or 4 months or longer, we don't want to chance it and just feel lucky we are within the return window to get our money back. Super disappointing.

This lock is super dependable and maintenance free. I used this on a gate and my tenant could not be happier with this product.

The lock is easy to program with a simple twist of a dial to enable the character.Installation was a bit difficult with alignment needing to be nearly perfect.I thought that the long part of the deadbolt is what passes through the receiver. It actually only travels 3/4 of an inch. I wish it had at least 1-1/2 inch of travel for greater security.Overall I am satisfied witht this product.

Works great. Two caveats called out in other reviews: 1. The spindle and screws need to be cut to size, I guess this is a given since it’s for a fence that can vary in size, 2. The numbers you select for the lock can be entered in any order, there’s no sequence. But for a purely mechanical lock it’s a simple device that does it’s job and honestly I didn’t see any other keypad lock out there designed for fences. I did have an issue with the install that led to the seller responding super quickly and sending a replacement. Turns out it was user error (I accidentally installed the spindle the wrong way). Multiple quick responses to resolve the issue hence the 5 star review. Product is 5 starts once you realize what it is: super simple, purely mechanical keypad lock for variably sized fence gates.

I bought this lock to install on my new gate. I don't have access to electricity where it is. I think this is a good product although it took some figuring out from me and my carpenter. We both couldn't figure out why there's such a long bolt when it doesn't throw more than 1/2 inch. I could barely get it to fit in the surface mounted strike. It does work but I wish the drive would throw more than 1/2". Also, when I opened the back plate there was a little spring loose in there. I think it may be something from the cross head screws but none of them were loose.

This is easily the worst product I have ever purchased from Amazon. The lock was expensive, difficult to install (I spent two hours trying to get it installed on a gate, and couldn't manage to do it), the lock mechanism itself didn't work. The spindle in the lock was WAY too short (the directions say it fits a door width of 0.99"-2.5" and I tried to install it on a 2" thick door and the spindle was too short to turn the lock. The template it comes with for drilling the holes is inaccurate. All in all this product is poorly made, non-functional, difficult to use, and expensive. I was able to find a much better gate latching/locking solution at my local hardware store for only $11. Don't waste your money here.

There are a bunch of reviews on here saying that it failed pretty quick (I thought the same). If they had the same experience that I did, the buttons became mushy and no code would work. I tried locking and unlocking it, thinking it would reset the pins but nothing.Luckily, that C button reset the pins.
