The City of Ember Complete Boxed Set (People of Sparks; Diamond of Darkhold; Prophet of Yonwood) Paperback – May 3, 2016

This is a great book series!! I recently read the first book for school and then bought the whole series!! I can’t stop reading it. Highly recommended!! Very clever!! Best book I’ve ever read!! A thousand applauses to Jeanne DuPrau!!

I bought this set for my daughter because her teacher read the first one in class and she loved it. So far my daughter has not yet read the sequels, but I have. I loved the first three! They were fun to read, hard to put down, and tickle the imagination. The character development is very good, and the setting is well painted. The fourth book of the series, is actually a prequel. I'm having a hard time getting into it as much, I'm only half through that one though. The characters in the books are around 12, and books 1-3 are appropriate for younger kids (mine are 7 & 9), the 4th one is a tad more questionable in that department. Not inappropriate necessarily, just harder to relate with.

Boys are loving this series. Great family read for many ages.

The first book was part of our summer reading for middle school summer school. I did not know it was a series. I am looking forward to reading the other three books and see how it ends. I said the age group for this book is 13 and up. The vocabulary and the themes are a little creepy--a society of people trapped in a cave for x number of years. The lights are about to go out. Leave it to two teens to figure it out.

My son’s class was reading the first book together at the end of the year with the hopes of them enjoying reading more and encouraged us parents to get the set which I am so glad I did!!! They love this series so much and are so eager to talk about what is happening next in the book! My son even wanted to decline watching the movie in class bc he wanted to finish the series first!!! If your kid has lost his love of reading this is a perfect series for them!!

This boxed set provides a thrilling and captivating journey. Before it's too late, two courageous individuals in the novel must race across a city that is experiencing devastating blackouts in order to discover its mysteries. I was captivated the entire time by their exploration of abandoned locations and the finding of an old message.The plot, which at times moves more slowly, yet offers emotional depth as it tackles themes of cooperation, conflict, and survival as it leaves the city. The prequel felt a little disjointed from the main plot, but the concluding sections neatly wrap up the trip.Overall, I give it four stars for its compelling characters, intriguing mysteries, and thought-provoking themes. Perfect for fans of dystopian fiction!

This series is great so far. My daughter and I are reading it and we both love it so far. We have made it through book 1 and part of book 2.

My grandson talked me into reading the first in the series and I was hooked. Yes these are written for younger people but there are so many life lessons entwined in them I would recommend adults read the entire series.
