Excellent Quality Variable ND Filter – Smooth and Reliable
The K&F Concept 86mm Variable ND Filter (Nano-X Series) is an excellent addition to my gear. The build quality is solid, with a smooth adjustment ring that allows for precise control over light reduction without any noticeable color shift or vignetting. I’ve used it for both photography and video, and it performs beautifully in different lighting conditions. The nano-coating does a great job at reducing reflections and repelling dust and water, making it ideal for outdoor shoots. The markings on the filter are clear, and I appreciate that it doesn’t introduce the dreaded "X" pattern that some variable ND filters suffer from. Overall, this is a high-quality, reliable filter that delivers exactly as promised. If you're looking for a well-made, versatile ND filter, this is definitely one to consider!

Faulty/ replacement update
The variable ND filter does not work correctly. It darkens up to halfway, but turning further makes the image brighter instead of darker. The adjustment is inconsistent, so I believe it is faulty. Updated review after replacement I initially received a faulty filter, which is why my original review was negative. The variable ND did not behave correctly — it darkened up to a point, then became brighter instead of darker, making the adjustment inconsistent and unusable. However, after contacting customer support, I received a replacement, and I’m happy to say that the new filter works as expected. The exposure adjustment is now smooth and consistent across the range. There is a small usability point worth mentioning: the orange handle is positioned quite far from the indicator mark on the ring, which can make it slightly awkward to adjust on a larger lens without getting your hand in front of the lens. That said, this is more of a design inconvenience than a fault. Overall, I’m pleased with the replacement product and very happy with the customer service, which was responsive and helpful throughout.

Essential great quality ND filter for outdoor video recording at 1/50th second
Ideal for using on cameras when needing to record video at 1/50th second outdoors in bright sunlight. I use mine at weddings on my Sony A7Siii. No drop in video quality when using this product.

No vignette, just a huge X.
24mm @ ND400 didn’t show vignetting, just a huge X on the screen. Edit: KNF reached out and offered replacement/refund.

No front thread making compact storage difficult, and no hard stops so X can appear.
I bought the 49mm, sadly and maybe my cameras fault ! but when on my lens the min and max are at the bottom, so hard to read, and as no hard stops its easy to go into the dreaded X. If I threaded it on top of my uv then the min max showed up on top, not a deal breaker. I also bought the 49mm to keep in my small camera bag or in my pocket while out. The supplied case is huge and obviously its a one size fits all for 82mm and down so bear that in mind if the case size is important to you as you will need a smaller case if you have a small bag etc. I have stackable filters also I planned to replicate that by buying front and back 49mm covers, Sadly there is no front thread so the only way to keep it safe is in the huge 82mm case. Also not a problem for me, but as other people have said, obviously you cannot add a lens hood due to the lever. However I kept getting the X when passing ND400 mark ( that I cannot see, or feel) It also jammed on me twice so I couldn't move it. Returned for a refund. But despite its shortcomings for my use case, the glass itself was good quality and colour was good and images clean and crisp, Glass 10/10, usability 4/10

A good beginner kit with a useful grey ND grad.
a great kit for the price. You may find the grey ND grad puts a slight colour cast on your photo but considering the price this is to be expected. Good quality ND grads cost hundreds of pounds! All of the filters are supplied in little plastic wallets with sealable flaps and the two carry cases supplied gives you the choice of taking just a small selection with you on shoots. The carry cases are nicely padded and made of tough material with mesh pockets on the inside to hold the filters. I doubt if I will use the other accessories that came with the kit but it is always nice to have spares for emergencies.

While it worked at lower settings, using it at higher settings produced unacceptable results
When used at a lower setting this produced a usable result. However, if you are presented with a situation where you had to use the filter at or near the maximum setting, the filter made the top right and bottom left of the image darker than the rest of the image, possibly fixable (Though difficult) on a still image, not really fixable on a film/video camera, where the light potentially changes second by second.
