A decent value budget aluminium board
This is not my first custom keyboard, but it is my first aluminium board. With this in mind I can happily say this board (which I got on an Amazon Warehouse deal) is a fantastic option for its full price for the barebones kit. The box includes a reasonable (straight) braided USB-A to USB-C cable, a switch puller and a keycap puller, along with a lot of foam to keep the board safe in transit. On to the board itself: first off, this thing is heavy, coming in at 1.6 kg without switches or keycaps, far in excess of any other the plastic case boards I already own. It feels solid, and the case was well made with no visible tool marks and nothing to deface the anodization. The board lacks any adjustable feet, but the case gives a comfortable typing angle, especially if you use it with a wrist rest. For gaming there are no issues of comfort that I have noticed. When it comes to adding to switches and keycaps, the LEDs are south facing, so shine through keycaps won't give their usual light up legends. However what you do get is no interference with cherry profile caps and a very pleasant (and pretty bright) underglow around the keycaps (seen in the picture).Sound-wise the board includes case foam and a decently thick plate foam too, which ensure there is no ping coming from the metal case. The included plate is aluminium and sounds pretty decent, providing a solid typing experience without an unpleasant noise. I have tried several types of switches in my board, and it sounded decent with some lubed reds, but fantastic with some Holy Panda clones. Is this board perfect? No, obviously there are always things that could be better. The biggest thing that struck me was the stabilisers. Lots has been written and said online about Glorious' GOAT stabilisers, and I have to say it mostly rings true. Even in early 2023 the GOATs are still massively over lubed, to the point where my space bar was mushy. After cleaning, relubing and then reinstalling they were ok (although the space bar stab wasn't brilliant). I replaced mine with some Durock V2s which sound great but lead to my other 2 points of note. First off, opening the GMMK PRo to work on the stabs requires in excess of 15 screws to be removed, which is one hell of a lot for a board that is made to be customised, plus there are at least 3 different lengths and shapes of screw (although all use the same sized Phillips bit). The second issue tha working on the stabs brings to light is that the plate is very tight for some after market stabilisers. I am pretty confident working on boards, and even I had concerns in pushing the Durocks through the gaps in the plate. I know early models of the GMMK Pro couldn't even fit Durock stabilisers, but even newer ones are quite tight. Once they are in the sound fantastic, and really show the potential of this board.Overall, the GMMK Pro is a decent board, and as a barebones kit makes for a decent value proposition, especially as it is widely available. It can be used stock and you will have a decent sounding and feeling board that looks good. If you go ahead and mod it, you can really make it sound fantastic, just be aware it presents some challenges in this regard.A very quick thing to note. The listing I purchased mine from lists as the ISO Black version of the board, but in fact delivers the ANSI Ice White (which is silver, not white). This would explain why the board was from Amazon warehouse. Must have been returned as the incorrect item!

An amazing typing experience
After a little research I paired this up with some self-tuned Durock T1 Switches and Durock T2 stabilizers. Absolute DREAM to type on if you like THE THOCC!As many have said online the stock stabilizers in this are a bit naff. My Backspace and Enter keys would get stuck down due to a combination of factory over-lubing and the stab pads being soaked in lube. The Space bar had insane wire rattle too.I swapped these out for Durock V2s and a set of new stab pads.A WARNING for those looking to do the same. my Durock V2s DID NOT FIT with the plate included with the revision I received. Apparently this is fixed in the more recent version of the board but mine had this issue. I just removed a couple of mm of material from the stab cutouts in the plate using a file and it was fine. The software is also kind of MEH. I just used QMK to customize my key setup. (To set CAPSLOCK as a function key and the number row to matching NUMPAD keys)

An Excellent Keyboard for Entry Enthusiasts
Who is it for?Searching for a great-quality keyboard can be really tedious. There are all sorts of options out there, with some budget-friendly that compromise on quality while others are way out of reach. Now that the custom keyboard market has expanded, there have been some excellent keyboards for first-time buyers looking to enter the enthusiast keyboard market, and the GMMK Pro is a great contender. What I LovedThe GMMK pro has outstanding build quality. The keyboard is weighty and fully made of aluminum, it has a gasket-mounted system to ensure a great feel and sound of your keys. The stabilizers on the Shift, Spacebar, and Enter are pre-lubricated by Glorious which allows the keys to be smooth and consistent. Furthermore, it's a hot-swap board, which allows you to plug in various different 3 or 5-pin switches to test out the sound and feel! The assembly for the keyboard was very straightforward considering the entire board is already built for you, aside from having to add the key switches and keycaps yourself, this is a very quick process. As an added touch there is a tasteful amount of RGB on the sides of the keyboard that leaves a satisfying glow on your desk, and every key has its own RGB Led to emit light. What could be betterWhile the GMMK Pro has great benefits, like most products there are some things to improve. Firstly, my GMMK Pro had over-lubed stabilizers. This means since there is too much lubricant pressing the key and releasing it feels very mushy, similarly, I believe my spacebar was over-lubed to the point that it actually sometimes gets stuck and I have to release it for a few seconds before it bounces back.Another thing Glorious has to work on is software support. While G-Core is a decent suite of options the user interface and experience are very clunky and too page dense. I'm not sure half the time if I'm editing the board or certain keys, or whether even the changes apply. The over lubrication is quite frustrating but that's probably unique to my purchase and likely won't harm most people's experience, but it should be rectified on quality control. As for the software, if glorious fixes it up a bit more you'll have a hell of a kit to start off with for the price.Overall ImpressionsFor £150, this kit is an excellent choice for most people looking to enter the enthusiast market. There are better options however they're much more expensive. I think most people will be pleased with the GMMK pro for years to come if they own one!Score - 4/5 thocks ;)

Not ALL GMMK PRO is the same!
If you are looking for a mechanical keyboard that has a sleek design, customizable switches and RGB lighting, you might want to check out the Glorious GMMK Pro. I bought two of them, and here is my honest opinion.Features: The GMMK Pro has a lot of features that make it stand out from other keyboards. It has a hot-swappable PCB, which means you can easily change the switches without soldering. It also has a rotary knob that can be used to control volume, brightness or other functions. The keyboard has a full aluminum body and a gasket-mounted plate that gives it a solid feel and sound. The RGB lighting is also very impressive, with 16.8 million colors and various effects to choose from.Quality: The quality of the GMMK Pro is very high. The keyboard feels sturdy and well-built, and the keycaps are made of PBT plastic that is durable and resistant to shine. The stabilizers are pre-lubed and smooth, and the switches are easy to install and remove. The only issue I had was with the first keyboard I bought, which had a faulty spacebar stabilizer that was sticking. I returned it and got a replacement, which works perfectly.Performance: The performance of the GMMK Pro is excellent. The keyboard is responsive and comfortable to type on, and the switches are satisfying and crisp. I chose the Glorious Panda switches, which are tactile and have a nice bump. The keyboard also has full N-key rollover and anti-ghosting, which means it can register any number of key presses at once. The keyboard also has a detachable USB-C cable that is braided and durable.Value: The value of the GMMK Pro is great. The keyboard costs $229.99, which is reasonable for a premium mechanical keyboard. It also comes with a switch puller, a keycap puller, and a Glorious sticker. You can also buy different switches and keycaps from Glorious or other vendors to customize your keyboard further.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the GMMK Pro. It is a beautiful and functional keyboard that offers a lot of features and options for customization. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high-quality mechanical keyboard.
