This bucket and auger combo is a great way to collect soil samples for analysis. Very easy to use. Just connect the auger to a cordless drill and you are ready to go. I put a mark on the auger so I could easily get the same depth of sample each time. To use position the bucket where you want to take a soil sample and drill into the soil through the hole in the bottom until you reach the intended depth. Do this as many times as needed to get enough soil to send to a lab for testing. It has worked well for me! Happy soil sampling!

This actually works great, I couldn't believe how easy to use and I live in Tennessee where the ground is rough and rocky. The only thing I wish could be better is some way to mark the depth on the bit as in a normal sample for your yard is around 6 inches, you honestly have no idea once you start drilling. I measured and used electrical tape on the bit for a depth guide. Would buy over a probe any day for the price.
