Tetris Alarm Clock

I absolutely love Tetris! Discovering this online made my day. Getting it in the mail and seeing it in action for myself was even better! How clever! The alarm even plays the Tetris theme! The pictures kind of show how it works. Basically, every minute the number(s) about the change flash two times, then disappear, then, simultaneously (if more than one number is changing), anatomically correct Tetris pieces fall from the middle of that number's section, rotate, and stack to form the next number.It's so clever and completely entertaining! I've decided to decorate one room of my house in EVERYTHING Tetris! This is an awesome unique piece to my collection!

I've had this clock about a month and a half now. I don't use the alarm function, since it's sitting on my desk at work, so I can't speak to that. Like the other reviews on here, mine has lost time, but in my case it's only around 40 seconds over the course of that 1.5 months, not hours a week (and, since it started off about 30 seconds fast when I first set it, it's only about 10 seconds slow now).Other than that very slight time loss, this clock is awesome. I have had quite a few of my co-workers stop by my desk to watch the time change, especially at 10am and 8pm (I have it set to 24 hour "military time" so all 4 numbers do their dance for 10:00 and 20:00).

Just not good!As others have mentioned, as a clock it loses time. But much much worse is that the LCD is TERRIBLE! It has exactly two degrees of viewing angle, and if you're one inch above or one inch below the perfect angle then the display is completely blank. The horizontal viewing angle isn't quite as horrendous, but it's still very narrow. So in addition to losing time, you can even really SEE the clock unless you're directly in front of it.As an alarm clock, it's also fairly useless. Set the alarm, and the tetris tune plays ONCE. And it's not very loud either, so unless you're a very light sleeper it's just not any good as an alarm clock, either!Finally, the backlight helps but can only be activated by pushing a button. No low light automatic backlight, no push-on, push-off, just a single ten second backlight shot. So if you're across a dark room, no clock for you! (Not that you'd be able to read it anyway, unless you were exactly dead on with it.)Terribly disappointed. Really wanted to like this clock, but it's just not good.

First the positive. It's awesome and hypnotic to watch the numbers form every minute. The tetris song as the alarm is also very cool. Controls are good and easy to figure out.Now the not so positive. I wish there was an option for the light to be always on, I couldn't use this as an alarm clock for that reason because I prefer being able to just turn my head and see the clock without having to push any buttons. This is probably because it runs on batteries and this would drain them quickly. For this reason I'd prefer it to have a cord, but those are both personal preferences, so I can't fault the product on them.The big problem though is that it doesn't keep time accurately. I find that it runs incredibly slow. I use it at work and set it to agree with my clock on my computer, and I found that after a week, it was a full 2 minutes behind the computer clock. I don't know if the animation causes the clock to change numbers slower than it should or if it's just running slow in general. But that large a difference over such a short time just isn't acceptable, especially in an alarm clock which is meant to keep you on schedule.So as fun as it is, I can't recommend it for reliable time-keeping. If you just want to watch the tetrominos fall into place though, go for it. It's quite fun to look at.

I was very happy to find this clock on Amazon because I prefer the shipping and trust this site so much.This clock arrived quickly in all of it's original packaging- brand spanking new. The box was great and not even the little test strip was pulled out (the strip that allows it to go into demo mode- so this way the battery was not even worn down). Un-boxing was great and the instructions were straight forward. The music played is great quality and each animation as the time changes never gets old because it's so much fun to watch them form each number.I'd recommend this for anyone who enjoys the original tune and some falling blocks.

Cool idea. Really. It's such a cool concept I couldn't help but buy it. When I got the clock, I was happy that it did everything I wanted it to. The novelty of watching each passing minute and hour be updated by a sea of falling tetrominoes was too cool for me to pass up.What's not cool is that the clock drifts. Badly. Really badly. I don't like the idea of having to reset the clock every few days when it has drifted minutes away. After a week or two, it's easily ten minutes off. Ridiculous and unacceptable. How could the makers of this timepiece have gotten the one thing a clock is supposed to do so disastrously wrong? The free digital watch in a Happy Meal can give accurate time, why can't this thing?How badly do you have to screw up to say "nah, I'll skimp on THE ONE THING THIS CLOCK NEEDS TO DO REALLY WELL" when you're designing a clock? It couldn't have cost more than mere pennies for them to have simply put an accurate clock at the heart of this.It's cool, the animations are neat, and it's a great conversation piece, but it's absolutely USELESS as a clock.(Tangential: Choking hazard? Seriously? Why is this thing listed as a choking hazard?)

Nice large screen. Entertaining tetris affect. Drains batteries quickly (it's a bit fast for an LCD time piece). Alarm is a bit loud. Don't like the screw on battery cover. Wish it had external power options.

Awesome clock! So cool to watch as the time changes. After seeing it at my house my friends went and ordered their own!
