This is a transfer belt, which fits around your waist and allows a second person to make sure you do not tip over while standing &/or walking If you want to stand using your core, muscles then you will need to do exercises to strengthen your core muscles. Would this be good to help someone do steps. I am using a walker but I'd like to be able to go upstairs and sleep in my bed

With a caregiver that you feel safe with yes this can be used to help support you while walking up the stairs, you would need to hold on to the side rails of the stairs and your caregiver would stand behind you holding on to the Handel's and giving you support from behind and to be able to prevent you from falling backwards. These are actually great for transfers assistance with standing,walking ect it's best to have two of these for transfers so you can hold on to them while they are holding on to you but only one is needed for assistance with stairs. Remember to try on a small set of stairs first and work your way up to longer flights of stairs and make sure you have proper assistance and have them set your walker at the top of the stairs wheels locked so when you reach the top you can rest on your walker before continuing on to your bedroom.
