Great water container backups.
I hike a lot and carrying one of these as a back up water container is an assuring feeling. I have one to two of these in each day pack and one always in my tiny tin kit that’s on my person at all times. I like that they’re sturdy, flatten out at the bottom and the ties secure the top closures. I always carry a stainless steel water bottle, but these are great backups just in case.

Good buy
These ship quickly, and as described, They seem to be sturdy enough to be able to reused. I intend to use them in the bugout supplies

THE Ultimate in Simple, Rugged, Portable, Survival Water Carrier
Since I am the founder of Ultimate Survival Tips (search for us on Google) I get to see about every cool innovation in survival gear imaginable. And one thing's for sure, if you are in a WCS (worst case scenario) crisis you are going to need water within hours, or at the least a day or two, to survive. But the problem is, how to carry and store water until you need it.Since traditional water carriers are big and bulky, and heck, besides my wife and I, I don't know anyone who carried a large capacity water bottle or carrier EVERYWHERE the go most people have a real problem on their hands if all of a sudden they are stuck with no means to transport or carry water. So the WhirlPack 1 Liter stand up bags are a perfect EDC (every day carry) for every bug out bag, survival and emergency kit. This particular pack comes with 3- 1 liter (about a quart) bags. So with 3 of these, you can carry and store about enough water to keep you alive for a day even in arid climates. The unique thing about these bags is that the bottom flattens out and there is a heavy duty closure system at the top... similar but more useful than the wire closure systems on coffee bags. With the bottom flattened out and the wire closure opened and formed into an oval you can pour water directly into these without them falling over like standard bags.Because of the wire top, you can also easily scoop water from a stream, pond or lake or set the bag up to catch droplets or run off while you go and do other things. And because the bages are over 60% clear (with about 1/3 of the bag having a white mark-able area to write on) you can set these puppies out in full sun for a day or two and let the UV rays of the sun solarize and thus kill a good lot of the nasties in the water reducing your chance of getting sick from drinking untreated water.I carry at least one of these bags in every survival kit I own or have built. I highly recommend that you do to.~David

GREAT, Here's the low-down...
... these bags have been made by Nasco since the 40's. What they ACTUALLY are is 'sample bags', used mostly for analytical/scientific sampling of water and other things. The idea was to make a sterile bag with plastic/seems that are practically unbreakable (demo's on this point are VERY impressive!). Per bag, they are actually A LOT cheaper than they are being sold HERE, however, they come in boxes of 100, 250 and 500 and each box is between about $80 and $100!Retasked as a "survival tool", they're great, especially if you plan to self-rescue since you may need to keep moving! They are rugged, highly compactable and the stand-up, 1-liter size is handy for measuring water for purification tablets. To SEAL them, think not so much "coffee bag" and more 'dry sack.' After filling, "WHIRL" it closed (get it?) about 3 times. Then, instead of simply "folding" the wire ends, bring the wire ends together and TWIST them together to lock the seal! Three bags are good (for hotter/dryer situations), but I think all you really need are two in your emergency tin along with Potable Aqua tablets (and maybe a coffee filter or two) and you have an easy way to treat water on the fly! Yes, you can "solarize" water in the clear plastic, but that could take at least SIX-HOURS in ideal conditions, Potable Aqua takes 30 minutes. And yes, you could filter sediment out with a t-shirt or bandana, but coffee filters are MUCH better suited to the task. NOTE: In a pinch, it MAY even be possible to boil water in these bags (and hats, other plastic containers, etc.), the trick is to NOT let the flames get too close! If I try it I'll let you know how that worked out.

Great water pouches.
These are a lot more durable than I expected. They definitely hold a full liter of water each and the twist ties are pretty strong. I was able to fold them all flat enough to fit all three into one Altoids tin. Another good investment for survival kits.

Great
Because they're vertical they're easy to fill & pour out to drink from. Good thickness, good ultra-light way to increase water carrying capacity. Great price too.
