Hayes 81741B Energize III Brake Controller

My brother paid a guy $200 to install a break controller for his truck and trailer. I paid $63.88 for this and another $12.18 for the Hayes 81782 Quik Connect Dual Mated Dodge/Chrysler 2009-1996 Wiring Harness. So less than $80, it took me all of 5 minutes to get it all set up. I read a review about a guy using Velcro but I could not get it to stick to the surface of the truck. The plastic would not allow the Velcro to stick. I had to just use the included screws and hardware to install it under the dash. It works great as well. It has a tension regulator that allows you to change the tension which helps me a lot since I come out of steep dirt hills with my trailer all the time. It has a red light that signifies when the brake is on.This is a great product and it was a better price and quality than something similar sold at Wal-Mart.I would suggest this to anyone anytime who would need this.

Works well. I haul a dual-axle 500gal water trailer and the electric brakes engage competently with this controller. This controller's features and feel aren't as smooth as the more expensive controllers, but that's to be expected given it's price. It's a no-frills device. I think I'd be ready to spend for the Cadillac-quality controllers were I doing a lot of long-distance hauling since my experience with them is they are simply more refined in their action. The red light indicator on this controller is a little crude (and a bit too bright). It also illuminates on each application of the brake pedal, even when no trailer is connected. But, for the price... OK, I'll live with it.

Super EZ install , compact size and virtually no adjustments. Installed on an 03 Trailblazer that was not factory equipped for plug and go-still a very easy install that was done in 15 minutes.

Installation was quick and easy.One thing I did different was I used two of my own sheet metal screws to install itsince Chevy had left me a couple holes that lined up. If you install it on the right side like most people do above the accelerator, you'll be putting to the far right close to the doghouse (transmission cover) and you'll need a 1/4" wrench to tighten the screws on that side so pre-start them once. I used my Makita drill with a 1/4" bit and pre-tapped them.This is a great little unit.

Product had been opened. It is obvious that I'm not the first person to open the box and fire it up, because there are finger prints all over it and the language is set to Spanish (I think). It is supposed to ask what language you want the first time it is started. Product has been returned for a refund.

I ordered this controller a year ago, used it once to hall my trailer with 2 quad's (3000lb's), I was hauling it with a minivan, I would not have been able to do it without this controller, It works great, very sensitive adjustments breaking can be fine tuned to you're exact needs and comfort level, However I was testing it this year for my yearly trip to camp & it was not working properly (breaks were locking up as soon as break petal was taped, I called customer service & they said, from what I described, it was a problem with the controller and they shipped me out a brand new one free of charge, had it in two days and once again it works great, every company should have that kind of customer service.P.S Product is made in the u.s.a.

Good solid product, works as it should. Don't buy a timer style controller, this is so much better. Much worth the extra $$$.

Seems like a good brake controller, but can't install because there's no bracket to install it!!!
