The scanner is easy to set up and connect to your in house network by following the menus during start up. The scanner will detect the available networks and you need to add any security password. Once this is done it will phone home to Launch for any available updates and download them for you. I found that this can take a little time but should be done so as to have the latest information about the cars in the scanner library. One of the nice things about this scanner model is that all updates are free for as long as you own the scanner and it is supported by Launch.Although I didn’t try this feature out Launch clearly states that they will provide assistance about the parameters reported for the vehicle to get to the possible cause of a problem.The Launch Creader Elite 202 is a good scanner for the knowledgeable auto enthusiast.As with any professional tool you need to know what you’re looking for and recognize it when you see it.This Launch scanner will provide the information you really need to get to the cause of most common problems which may present themselves. It does this in a clean and clear manner.Once connected to the ODBII connector mounted in the car and the engine is started, it will try to read the VIN number automatically and present this information as well as other information it acquires from the ECU.For example it will tell you if your car is ready for emission testing during the annual inspection required by state law. It will also tell you if there are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) fault messages as well. To look at the DTCs you simply select them using the touch screen. In my case I was happy to see none.What I found useful was the ability to record the state of the parameters when everything was working for future reference when there is a malfunction. This will allow you to see what has changed.One of the interesting features I found was that the scanner checks to see which protocols are supported by the ECU. This comes in handy if the car requires different protocols to view other modules in the communication system. It tests for possible protocols available and allows the user to choice the one needed.Once selected a list of data PID or parameters can be selected to view needed to address the fault at hand. As you can see from the photo taken with the scanner’s on board camera there are 63 parameters selectable to view on my vehicle a 2018 Toyota Camry.These PID can be viewed quantitatively and graphically in real-time plus you can view up-to four (4) PID by graph at the same time in order to determine any relationships they might have on each other.There are an adequate amount of navigation devices (buttons) including the touch screen to get you the information available.The scanner has a slot to increase the memory available but this will be made available as required by Launch in the future.Launch also lets you select two (2) special functions for this scanner. The next model up lets you select up to five (5) additional special functions.I feel it’s a nice scanner for the price and should be considered by any real car enthusiast or professional mechanic.

I could not complete the set up. Connected to my laptop and WLAN/ internet. Could not get past the accept screen, the accept button did nothing. Tried to call the international phone number but could not get it to work, I guess you need a plus sign for international calls and my phone lacks one. Amazon support gave me a web address that said it will take several days for a reply. This is not acceptal. If it is this hard to set up operation may be a nightmare. If this gets fixed I will do an update.

Easy to use and very user friendly it is worth the money and has paid for it self the first use

I really enjoyed this scanner when I got it. Everything was open. Only after the update did it become like every thing else. It asked me for a sub. I don't like when things go to a sub model. The scanner should be able to do anything and scan all cars.

My wife purchased this for a Christmas for me last year. I maintain my families cars, including kids etc. At first it worked great, however in the past few weeks I have tried to read simple check engine idiot codes and it takes too long to turn on. And once on, it turns off prior to the selection screen. I have attempted to turn on with the USB as well with the same results. 2 calls to the manufacturer later, I am left with no answers and a paperweight for a code reader. Customer service 0...

I am a novice when it comes to my car, but recently have started to get more handy with simple repairs. I purchased this product because of all the features that make it easy to use. The plug and go with a fast boot screen and a touch screen makes the unit easy for anyone to use. I have used other readers that don’t give me all of the error codes. The Launch Creader Elite pulled more codes than readers that is used at some of the local hardware stores. Not to mention the ability to connect to WiFi and quickly email the report. I strongly recommend this product to all types of car mechanics.

If all you need is the ability to clear check engine codes, this is a waste of money for you. I like the features it has for trying to determine the health of your car and to be able to diagnose many problems. What I don't like it that many of the full features are additional costs of about $30 to download and install. You get 2 free, but the others are to be paid for. I guess you buy when you need those items. I'm not too sure how you pay for them. There is a piece of paper with the device that tells you to contact them if you have a problem. There is no phone number listed, but instead two email addresses. I had a question, so I sent it to both email addresses. Both of them bounced back saying these were no valid. So if there is a problem, I don't know how you contact them. Knowing this, I would probably buy a different brand, but I will stick with this one for now. It was annoying that I had to download 4 updates to start using the device.

I bought this item because it says I can bleed and break abs system with this tool. There's no instructions on how to do that! How do you do that??? Wasted money on this and had to pay a garage to bleed my breaks.
