AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Professional Weather Station with LCD Display and Lightning Detection

Cool set up.

Well as you can see in the photo it's got a beautiful display that's hanging on my wall in my kitchen. It's easy to see as long as it's at eye level. Or on the counter. I had it a little too high at one point and I couldn't see anything. So make sure that you're paying attention to where you place it. The outdoor pieces are a good bit away, the connection is no problem. The rain gauge with wind 'thingy' LOL are attached to a PVC pipe and raised on the front of my outbuilding on my land. The temperature gauge with the lightning detection is on my screened in porch. So far? I love this thing. The only thing I have yet to find is where I can change the time from regular time to 24 hour clock... I mean surely it's got to be here somewhere and I just haven't found it. As for accuracy? I only have my phone app to compare it to and it is darn close. My phone app tells what the temperature is downtown, which is a few miles from me. That's one of the reasons I wanted this. Because it's not accurate to where I am. I live in the mountains so I wanted to know what it was outside my house, not downtown. But overall? I am very happy with this

I got this a few months ago. Works ok and I love having it, just wish the lightning sensor worked better. It gets a lot of interference, where it is unable to detect. I’ve relocated the sensor 5 times with same result. Its not near any outside noises like a/c (I live in the country so no interference from neighbors houses). My only guess is that the sound of the rain hitting near it is causing the interference…although it gets interference before and after the rain hits. Also tried new batteries, with same result. Lightning sensor is about 50 feet from the display. The wind/temp sensor is about 200 feet away, and still connects with a strong signal. Aside from this lightning problem, the unit works great…I’m pleased with the purchase.

This reasonable priced AcuRite weather station gives me all the information that I want or really need. A beautiful display and easy set up.

The easiest weather station set up ever. This is my third. lacrosse, logia were previous. It was working before I finished programming the receiver. I hope is lasts.

It was simple to install and link up to the base station. I was skeptical about the lightning detector till we received our last system of storms. We had over 100 strikes in the area. This was on par with the local weather radar. The screen is vibrant and easy to read. After this one, it will be hard to go back to any other temp/weather gauge. We are purchasing one for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

Purchased some time ago and it has been working well for 3 plus months that I've owned. My mounting solution required the purchase of a two foot pipe and a mounting bracket to attach to my roof in order to get more height, more accurate readings. I also purchased the recommended remote battery pack which makes access to battery changes much easier. It seems to be very accurate as compared to other sensors in my neighborhood which can be accessed via weather underground website. It will go into learning mode for the 1st two weeks then it will start to give you weather forecast information. Please note that if you change the batteries on the display unit, it will start the learning mode over again. It successfully detects lightning strikes. It has very useful data compilation and summary information in all recorded categories. All sensors work well including inside temperature & humidity, outside temperature & humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, rain fall levels, lightning strikes, etc. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to follow mounding instructions carefully to ensure proper readings, including mounting the station level, pointed at north direction, sturdy mounding to secure surface and proper height, secure and proper mounting of battery back cable which goes from the weather station to convenient location at ground level. If you are not getting accurate readings on any of the data points, they can be corrected, calibrated manually. The display is sufficiently bright but is more useful if located closed to user like a desk top or table top as information is not in a sufficiently large enough font for across the room reading.
