Q: What's the best canisters to use with this lamp

Hi, So to start, the gas lamp has a female 7/16 inch screw thread, so look for 'screw thread' type cartridge either C100 = size 100 gram 7cm standing height [smaller but same cost], I recommend a C500 = 445gram size that's a taller 14 cm] cannister, lasts longer. Either size is a stable base (if wanted, you can get folding a tank bracket holding stand (that I do not have or need) that widens and enhances stablity). The best cannister size is based on your likely use, so if carrying the size and weight verses time/period/# of nights it will be used. NOTE Lamp is NOT for use with ( 'Easy clic' [Campingaz blue], or Piercable, or Aerosol can type, though can get a convertor, but the much smaller can diameter & tall height, is logically not stable enough). Suggest the C500 threaded type, Happy camping!

Q: Can you use campingaz gas canisters like the CV 470

The Campingaz CV 470 bottle cannot fit straight onto it, and it needs a gas adapter. There are generally 2 types of gas, one threaded and one unthreaded. The gas lamp fits with the threaded gas cylinder, like Jetboil or Coleman UK.

Q: As well as giving a background light how much heat does the lantern produce? Will it raise the temperature in a one man tent by a few degrees?

It might by about 2 degrees but you must remember you have to have more ventilation so not much heat gain. Great as a light and that makes it feel warmer.

Q: Why use this instead of an electric lantern/head torch on a stand? What is the benifit?

I like the glass shade and its well made. I like looking at a real flame and didnt want more plastic crap. I suspect it will last a lot longer than a plastic torch if you look after it. Not reccommended for very windy conditions though. Its all down to personal choice I suppose.
