Amazingly easy to assemble and so secure and sturdy!
I wish we would have found this about 6 months ago, it would have saved alot of back pain and cleaning messes on the toilet and floor, as well as everything my father was wearing from the waist down. Finally something that is secure for him to hold onto while lowering to the toilet. This has been a savior for my father, who has Dementia and anxiety. Sitting down onto the toilet was such a chore, when he is afraid of lowering down to the seat that he cannot see behind him, and my mother or I trying to hold double our weight while lowering him softly to the seat. This has truly been a blessing. I highly recommend for anyone who has difficulty getting down to that seat.

Perfect - if you have room for it
I chose this safety rail because I wanted a stable and sturdy design that didn't hang off of the toilet. This model is sturdy enough for my 250+ pound father to easily get up and down. The padded handles aren't as cold or hard as the standard designs. It's easy to assemble, and an absolute lifesaver for the mobility impaired. The only issue to keep in mind is that it is 27 inches wide. I like the extra width, since it's more stable and less cramped, but make sure you have room for it! Many tiny bathrooms just don't have the clearance on either side of the toilet. We have a couple of inches to spare. There isn't enough clearance for me to install the magazine holder in the pictures (no big loss there). Even though it's a tight fit, the handles curve inward from the widest point, so there's no problem getting your hands around the handles. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.Update: Just over two years after buying this product, it collapsed. The welds in the base gave way. I think my father might have fallen on it or exerted a lot of force somehow to cause it to collapse. So I'm updating my review to be accurate, but I'm buying another one. I'll get one that has the same design, but is less expensive. I noticed that the price more than doubled since I bought this, and the other brands offer a price comparable to what I originally spent.

Aids in knee/hip replacement surgery
Drive's raised 4 inch toilet seat and safety rails are a must for after knee replacement surgery and hip replacement surgery. It is sturdy, convenient, easy to install ( no tools just knobs) and easy to clean. It really helped with recovery.

Safe and effective
My 79 year old father fell and broke his hip July 3rd. He was moved to an skilled nursing facility a few days after surgery. He stayed longer than was planned and I wanted him to be safe when he came home. In addition to the grab bar I had installed I also purchased this after discussing it with the director of the facility my father was staying in. Once I figured out how the pieces went together it was an easy install. So far it has worked well in conjunction to the grab bar I had installed next to the toilet. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that it took me a bit to figure out how to fit the pieces together. Sometimes people need written directions to go along with the picture, especially when the picture directions weren't clear.

Does its Job at a Reasonable Price
Need a support and not a good place to add support bar to wall. The directions were not the best but I was able to figure out using the pictures. It seems to be a solid design the the locking parts to hold all together. Looked easier to put together than the ones that sit on the floor. Install went fine it was just hard for me to get at the nuts under the seat. Once I got it all screwed together, it was very strong and easy to use. There were two widths it could be set at for different size people where so many accessibility aids are set to the 16" to 17" only. The holes in the back for the locking pins are wide and I figured out why. The bars lift up just enough to be able to clean under the front supports (I can imagine them getting dirty). You can also change the width after they have been installed with the push in locking pins. The front supports are under the toilet seat and are really stable. I was worried at the larger width they would not have enough front support but they actually did. They made standing so much easier and stable with an injured leg. I do highly recommend.

Product safety
I am giving a review. It’s hands down the worst. After the bracket breaking and it coming unscrewed it gave way and I fell. I am in a wheelchair and I pivot and stand at the toilet, so it’s a hardship to begin with I ordered another kind with the bar that goes straight across. My P/T said it may be a better fit for me. Just know that the handles do turn loose move down and you will fall. So don’t put all your faith in this product because it let me down

One style over another
After having another style of safety rail in the bathroom used by my mother, I find this one to be more effective in several ways. In regards to santitation issues, this beats the toilet mound style by leaps and bounds. It is stable enough to be used by the elderly as long as the individual has full use of both hands. Otherwise, it would probably tip to one side. Please be cautious regarding this issue. It is easy to assemble but don't rely on directions to assist you. In fact, if you find youself first assembling it backwards, just take it apart and redo a second time. All you will loose is a little time for the mistake. The overall price of this product is relatively small compared to other makes and models so consider this one when shopping around. One last item which is noteworthy is the ease of moving the entire assembly away from the toilet area. Even a light-weight can pick it up since it is so light. Regardless of it's weight, overall, this is a useful, functional item for both the temporarily handicapped to the more permanent.
