Ok, so I'm an Eggleston fanboy of sorts. His work speaks to me and he finds the beauty in the mundane and everyday with ease. His work is similar in a way to the work of the 70s new topographers, but it has a lot more heart and soul. The new topo guys had a cold, exacting approaching with a highly political nature to their work, Eggleston's work is almost the polar Opposite of that. He becomes a part of what he photographers and even if it's ugly or boring he somehow sees through that and finds its inherent appeal. This is no critique of post war America, it is a meditative approach to finding the joys in the normal. This set is great. A wide range of works that represents his vision well. Material is well printed and of a quality paper. This is also probably the cheapest way to own some of Eggleston's work. I say buy it.

This is not how these photos should look
I am a big fan of William Eggelston's work, and have a number of his books. I thought it would be nice to have these postcards to have some smaller versions of some of the more famous photos. But the quality is very poor. Eggleston's photos are very saturated, and these postcards are all washed out. They might have looked better if they were glossy, but the matte finish makes all the colors look faded. If you look in the many books of his work - notably those published by Steidl - you'll see that they are nothing like this. Two stars because it's Eggleston, but buy one of his books instead.

Terrific for Postcrossings
Eggleston's art is something like a cross between Magritte and Hopper. Someone is doing something, and we wonder what his/her story is. A scene is set, and we wonder what just happened, or if there's something still to come. Is s/he lonely, or simply enjoying solitude? They're on high-quality card stock and the colors are crisp and clear. Great postcards.
