Good for Seasonal Depression, Bad for Linear Time
"Get a daylight lamp," they said. "It'll keep you cheerful on gloomy days," they assured me.It has been ███ days since the Light turned on.At first, the daylight lamp was harmless enough—just a friendly companion through late-night spreadsheet purgatory, casting its radiant glow onto endless rows of data. But then arrived that single, insidious night (precisely when, I cannot pin down; the linearity of time abandoned me sometime around last quarter’s earnings call), where I committed a minor but ultimately cataclysmic oversight: I failed to extinguish the lamp.Ever since, my life has devolved into a permanent noontime terror-scape, perpetually set at a merciless 20,000 lumens, aggressively radiant, relentlessly buoyant. Sleep has receded into the realm of folklore, an outdated custom from some pre-illumination age. Synesthesia emerged as a side effect: colors are now symphonic, softly humming in E-flat major, and sounds have taken on tangibly aromatic qualities—think "overripe grapefruit meets electrical storm." Without any conscious volition, I've acquired total ambidexterity; my left hand expertly flipping pancakes in deft culinary choreography while my right drafts emails of staggering eloquence and understated corporate hostility, leaving my colleagues both awed and vaguely disturbed. My mind has become an involuntary sanctuary for intrusive prime numbers, large and arrogant—982451653, 776531401, 961748941—insistently vying for attention, eternally claiming indivisibility.Perhaps most alarmingly, my cat, in an unexpected show of linguistic bravado, revealed—in heartbreakingly fragmented French—that he’s understood every word I’ve ever uttered ("Je comprends tout, mon ami. Mais, pourquoi tu ne dors jamais?" he purred morosely, channeling a mournfully philosophical Gérard Depardieu). French, incidentally, is a language I last deployed during anxiety-soaked adolescence, under the withering gaze of Mme. Campagnoli, conjugating verbs with adolescent terror.Water now tastes distinctly like static, an acquired taste I've swiftly grown fond of. Last Thursday, apropos of nothing, a monolith appeared in my living room, pulsing gently with cryptic meaning before vanishing exactly an hour later, leaving only faint traces of cosmic dread and unanswered existential questions.Sleep? Breathing? Blinking? Quaint biological functions discarded alongside my circadian rhythms. Yesterday, informed by insider tips chirped conspiratorially by the sparrows perched outside, I executed a series of options trades netting $300,000, the proceeds of which I've distributed across seventeen different financial institutions in increments specifically designed to avoid triggering SAR filings. A financial miracle delivered via avian espionage.I wholeheartedly recommend the Brightech Sky LED Torchiere Super Bright Floor Lamp. Easily my best purchase this year.Five stars.

die and collect in requiring delicate and labor-some removal periodically like was required for the hot halogen lamp
I replaced a 300-watt halogen tochiere lamp I had for years. It required replacing the bulb every 2 to 7 years, but at least the bulbs could be replaced. That is a drawback to this lamp as the led array cannot be replaced. So when the led's give out after 10 to 20 years, if the lamp makes it that long (I'm hoping), the lamp will have to just be discarded. The newer halogen bulbs now all made in China didn't last as long as the original ones even though they are cheaper. Finally it seemed that the rheostat failed as well and my attempt to replace it didn't prove successful to get my halogen lamp operational again: new bulbs either only lasted one lighting or never worked at all.I would judge that this led lamp has a similar "hotness" as my old halogen lamp... neither more yellow or blue. I never had a 190-watt halogen, but I imagine that this intensity approximately mimics that level because it is similar to when I had my 300-watt halogen at about 2/3 intensity which is the level I usually kept that lamp at.I have a white ceiling and it reflects similarly as my defunct 300-watt halogen lamp did, although the flat lamp top led lamp beams the lighting more directly straight out up to the ceiling than the bowl dispersion of the halogen did. The height of this lamp is about 4 1/2 inches shorter than the halogen torchiere it replaced. I am about 72 1/2" tall and the lamp would be somewhat in my eyes if I was any taller, the light of the led array would be somewhat directly in the eyes of a taller person. The lamp top can be pivoted about 20 degrees. This might be helpful if your lamp is near a wall and could be angled toward the wall to prevent the lighting in your eyes when you walk around the lamp. Away from the wall, any angle would be in your eyes at some position around the lamp. The angling of the lamp can somewhat change where the light is brightest, but not greatly. I also suppose if your ceilings were darker the change would be even less.Another factor that another reviewer mentioned that I can see will be helpful is that there is no space between the cover and the led array for bugs to fry, die and collect in requiring delicate and labor-some removal periodically like was required for the hot halogen lamp. I am looking forward to the ongoing reduced electricity usage of this 30-watt lamp over time compared to my old 300-watt halogen too. The lamp was easy to assembly and sits solidly. It has a weighted base that is totally adequate for the overall weight and width of the lamp. This lamp is likely half the weight of the halogen torchiere and requires half the weight to stabilize it.The lamp top is 9 3/4 inches in diameter while the base is 10 inches in diameter and 1 inches thick. The pole is 3/4 inches in diameter. By comparison, the base of my old halogen torchiere was 11 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches thick. It's pole was 1 1/2 inches in diameter.I have made all these references to the halogen torchiere as a comparison because I have read from previous reviewers that they, like me, reluctantly and as a final necessity had to replace their old halogen lamps which most of them liked a lot as I did. So, I'm sure that many future buyers will be in our same boat and want to know what they will be getting as a comparison to what they have been used to. The length of the cord from the transformer plugged into wall to the lamp base is 6 feet. At the edge of the base a connector plugs into the lamp cord running up through the middle of the pole. There are 4 pole sections that screw easily and tightly together. At the top of the 3rd section from the base, there is a connector that plugs into the final wire running through the top section to the lamp top. By the way, aesthetically it is certainly NOT ugly (mine is black), although it is certainly somewhat minimalist and understated compared to other larger flare-shaped torchiere lamps most people are used to. I find that we are using this lamp 80% of the time at the brightest level and the other 20% spread between the two lower intensities. One last thing, if you connect the lamp; to a switched outlet, that switch IS usable with this lamp. The answer to that question seemed a bit ambiguous from other reviews I read before purchasing this lamp. How long the switch is off determines how long it takes for the lamp to turn on. If the switch is off for only a few seconds, the lamp will come on in under 2 seconds. If it has been off for over 10 minutes, the lamp will take about 4 seconds to light, and it always comes on at the brightest setting no matter what level it had been at when the switch was turned off.

Lights flickering
I got two of these and the lights seem to be flickering on both of them which is weird. And they’re not as bright as I see in pictures.

Great while it lasted, not easily reparable
I had this light for the last two years without issue--it was bright, I loved the different dimness settings and the touch-switch. But just this week it decided to stop working correctly: it still turns on, but it flickers obviously and chaotically-- I think something internal to the LED disc must have gone on the fritz. The trade-off for that bright light disc with multiple built-in lights is that you can't really replace it easily or cheaply. Instead of replacing it with the same, I've decided to get a more typical torchiere with a replaceable bulb.

Very bright
This is not bright or natural colored light. It’s more like a standard incandescent color BUT this lamp is super bright. Even on the lowest setting it floods my living space.

Works for now
I like this lamp a lot, the gold color is beautiful, but recently I have had an issue with it randomly not turning on. I've only had it for four months so that makes me worry it's not going to last
