I have seen some people using vaseline in the trough. Recommended?

Thanks for the question. I’m not convinced that adding Vaseline to the trough would help much. The trough has a layer which is hard for them to climb out once inside. If anything applying a spray with a permethrin active (which most of the over-the-counter/Amazon sprays are) may help although that depends on the residual value (how long they keep working) as to the effectiveness of continually killing them once trapped. Generally they should get trapped in the trough naturally, we are Pest Controllers and have tested these in multiple real-world situations as we specialise in bedbug treatments. Alternatively applying some diatomaceous earth may help things to kill them off too. Finally I think it’s really important to remember interceptor traps highly effective at dealing with bedbugs that are external to the bed but not those already harbouring internally in places such as the headboard, mattress and the slats. If the divan is in two parts and you have double castors in the middle, do they still fit ?

Thanks for your question. Depending on the size of the casters, if they are quite large, then I would say no because you would have to fit two casters in one intercept a trap which is unlikely to fit. The only way would be if you moved the two parts of the bed further away from each other and put each caster in its own interceptor trap. This word, of course me and you need two sets of the interceptors and the mattress wouldn’t align with the bed. Alternatively you may find other sellers do XL traps which may suit me better although they wouldn’t be a nonslip type. I hope this helps.

You say that they they are not non slip, you say these are rubber, my iron bed moves about on the laminate floor on these, more like slippy plastic?

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I’m very sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the interceptor traps. We have tested them extensively on different surfaces. To clarify, yes they have a rubber base which helps stop slipping unlike other traps on the market. It is important to note that some of the traps come with an extra rubber piece that needs to be removed unless it is required on a divan box bed to raise the bed.
