Product Description Motorhead has built an astinishing career spanning over 2 decades, out lasting and out rocking many of their peers of this genre. Incredible live performance and a diehard fan base have continued to fuel this non-stop machine. desertcart.com Since 1975 Motörhead--spearheaded by the grungy, iconic British metalhead Lemmy Kilmister--has been churning out speedy, macho, aggro anthems, including "Ace of Spades," "Killed by Death," and "Eat the Rich." The phrases "trendy" or "critical favorites" have never been attached to the Grammy-nominated band, and Hammered isn't the record to change Motörhead's antiestablishment standing. The 11-song outing (plus two bonus tracks) will, however, satiate longtime fans. The power trio rages--complete with piercing guitar solos and double-bass drums--on the urgent and winning "Brave New World," and is only slightly more mainstream on "Walk a Crooked Mile," which boasts melodic choruses and backup vocals, and crunchy rhythms matched with Lemmy's trademark gruff, guttural talk-singing. Lemmy's no sex symbol, and it's disquieting to hear him sing somewhat romantic lyrics on "Dr. Love" and "Mine All Mine." The songs like "No Remorse" and "Voices from the War" seem more suited to the singer-bassist's brusque persona. In fact, Hammered's most definitive Motörhead-esque cut is probably the bloody "Red Raw," which will give all but the most practiced headbangers whiplash. --Katherine Turman Review: i still have not recieved my product and I am sick of waiting for it !!!!! - i can't review what I have not recieved!!! It's Motorhead -- what else do you need to know?!
Album number sixteen from England's finest power trio Motorhead, 2002's "Hammered," covers all of the bases. There is plenty of speed metal in tact, here, as there are ample traditional metal and agro-hard rock anthems. And plus, if you like MH's blues-oriented angle, it is here for you, as well. As such, if you like your metal filled with piercing solos, energetic and punk-like double bass drumming, hummable guitar hooks, vocals that you are sure to remember (including infectious, fist-pumping choruses), and not uncommonly humorous lyricism, you definitely could do a lot worse than this highly enjoyable record right here. The set kicks off with "Walk A Crooked Mile," a very punk-y and adherently groovy opener with a thundering, dirty-sounding bass groove, distorted, abrasive guitars, and really catchy and memorable vocals and lyrics. It also lets fly a totally ripping, whammy bar-drenched guitar solo, and another, equally as good one crops up later on, too. (The latter of these two solos is fiery and mazy.) "Down The Line" begins with the sound of drum sticks being clapped together before rocketing into a contagious, foot-stomping, head-banging speed metal groove that is tattooed by thundering guitars and bass that flow well and play off of each other really well. And like the opener, this song uncorks two interesting solos, as well -- the first of which is unorthodox and wah-wah inflected, and it is followed by a terrifically epic, wailing, several parted solo. "Brave New World" takes things up a notch, though, with its blistering, thrashing groove, careening, shredding guitar solo, and insistent double bass thudding. It all makes for a terrifically fun, fast, and hard-rocking affair, a total thrash-fest freak-out, and one that is filled with blazing, off-the-rails speed and aggression. This, then, is followed-up by "Voices From The War," a heavy, charging, and energetic number that is backed by fiery, machine gun-fast guitar licks, occasional blazing solos, rhythmically galloping, stomping beat, grumbling bass lines, vintage Motorhead speed punk drumming, and Lemmy's classic, phlegm-flecked, horse-sounding vocal wails. And the tune's memorable, fist-pumping, shout-worthy choruses help to guarantee that this will be a mosh-pit favorite sometime soon. But it is on the next two tracks that the blues elements come front and center. "Mine All Mine" is a light-hearted, feel-good, blues-tinged southern rocker with a relaxed tempo, toe-tappable (and even borderline whistle-worthy) rhythms, and excellent soloing (MH keep in the tradition of the album by making the first solo melodic and wailing, and the second one blistering and shred-oriented.) And, subsequently, "Shut Your Mouth" is almost a piece of pure, straight-up blues rock. It boasts stop-start guitar hooks (which evoke vintage Iron Maiden), thumping drums, Lemmy's classically catchy vocals, and a dirty, washed-out-sounding bass tone. Two more solos -- including one really good, winding, and wah-wah-ish solo -- are tucked into the mix later on, too. Back on more traditional heavy metal soil, "Kill The World" is a thundering, groove-oriented speed metaller that lumbers forward like a lawnmower with its driving, bubbling bass lines, catchy vocals and lyrics, and choruses that attach themselves to the listener's brain like glue. It also features simple yet catchy and muscular guitar hooks, and a bout of thrashy soloing, to boot. The deeply grooving "Dr. Love," then, is driven by often funky-sounding slapped bass lines, raucous rhythms, jazz-tinged guitar leads, and chaotic shred soloing. This is then followed up by "No Remorse," a meanly dark and abrasively thunderous number with cascading guitar hooks and nearly booming bass lines. This tune is also of note for its noteworthy, dark lyrics (including a kind of haunting chorus), and wild, air-guitar-worthy solo runs. "Red Raw" is another big standout, as it is a surprisingly brutal and blistering cut that almost plays like full-on thrash, what with is fiery guitar picking, deft, slamming drums (including a couple of spots of hefty double bass work, and a short-but-sweet drum solo near the end), and propulsive, motoring groove. And it is all iced with Lemmy's gravelly vocal hooks. All told, "Red Raw" is a shot of pure, white-hot adrenaline, and one that is almost certain to give even experienced headbangers whiplash. It is then followed up by "Serial Killer," an extremely creepy and darkly ambient tune with trippy sound effects, guitar feedback, and spoken-word vocals. Lastly, "Hammered" draws to a close with two bonus tracks, the first of which being "The Game," which is not going out of your way to get or even listening to more than once. It is a decent -- and terrifically ominous -- song, sure, but on the whole, it is too vapid and antic-climactic to be noteworthy. And then comes a live recording of "Overnight Sensation," which is excellent because the listener can really feel the blistering energy permeating throughout it. "Walk A Crooked Mile" and "Red Raw" might be the only two real bona-fide classics to be found, here. But there are more than a couple of tunes on this record that will doubtlessly appeal greatly to and fully satiate the band's rabid fan base -- and songs that will end up being staples in Motorhead's live set. As such, "Hammered" is recommended for all fans of the band and genre.

This album is Motorheads’ second of the 21st Century and another largely maligned and overlooked one. If you ignore the unfounded OTT criticism of this album, you will find (yet another)great Motorhead album, that has at least 7 belters out of 10, but has 9 to my ears! Yes it isn’t perfect, yes the final track ‘Serial Killer’ (which is basically Lemmy grumbling some poetry over some distortion samples) is as filler as you can get (although nowhere near as god-awful as what Corey Taylor was trying to do on the first two Stone Sour albums!), yes, even Lemmy admitted that the last two songs aren’t amazing, and were hastily put together to keep the label happy (although to be fair, they aren’t that bad at all!), but otherwise, this is a very strong album, which punches amongst the heaviest in the band’s back catalogue. I dare anyone to find better songs than opener ‘Walk a Crooked Mile’ and the superb, should’ve been a single; ‘Dr. Love’ in any band’s discography. Lead single ‘Brave New World,’ features some of Lemmy’s barest, most thought-provoking lyrics ever, and are relevant to the ages, as well as anthemic chorus and memorable verse lines. The production is great and it is a very heavy mix indeed. Guitar gear freaks will no doubt be studying the featured booklet for tips on how to get Phil Campbells’ crushing tone (I did), whilst Lemmy’s unique Rickenbacker / Marshall sound is as unique and ear splitting as ever. The militaristic cover art is also one of the best Motorhead artwork ever put onto a CD case, and would be my pick for a ‘Head tattoo if I ever decided to get one!
