Beautiful Little Tea Kettle!
We had bought this product last year (in yellow) and just loved it. It was well made, the perfect size for us, and performed wonderfully. Unfortunately, my husband accidentally dropped it on our ceramic tile floor and chipped it in several places. When we looked for a replacement, we were very happy to find it still being offered (although not in yellow anymore). This time, we purchased it in turquoise. It arrived today and seems to be of equal quality and craftsmanship to the former one.

Perfect Kettle for the Vintage Style Kitchen!
I read all of the reviews prior to purchasing this tea kettle and I could not be more pleased with it! It is a very classic style and the turquoise colour not only matches a lot of the Martha Stewart products but fits in perfectly with my 1940s style kitchen. The enamel is bright and heavy duty (it's been knocked off the stove several times by a boisterous puppy who is still learning not to counter surf & shows no chips or scratches from hitting the tile floor), the lid fits securely, and I love how the handle bends to the side for ease of filling (you can still hold the handle while it's sideways and it doesn't slip around!).It's the first thing people notice when they walk into my kitchen and it's as functional as it is attractive. For the price, you simply cannot beat it!

A gem of a non-whistling teapot
It's hard to find a good non-whistling teapot and this one is a classic. I love the shape and the color is warm and cheerful. Great for those who don't need a giant teapot. The size is just right for boiling four cups of water or so and the water heats up rapidly. The most important thing to know about this teapot is that it needs to sit on a small diameter burner. If flames or heat extend beyond it's small diameter, the enamel finish will be damaged. With proper care it will last forever.

Adorable kettle - just don't walk away! (Common sense I know)
I LOVED this kettle. The color was beautiful, and I used it for a few months everyday. It doesn't whistle, which at first wasn't a problem cuz I usually stick close when boiling water anyway (it only takes a minute to boil 16-32 oz).But then my husband started some water boiling and walked away...it boiled dry and got big black marks up the side (they came off with magic eraser). When he realized it was dry he rushed it to the sink and filled it with tap water...which is colder than boiling water and caused the ceramic to pop off in a few places. It was fine though, and I used it for another month before it happened again. (I was called away because my 2 year old had a rather large bathroom accident...ew). This time the handle, which is plastic, fell down and it boiled dry - for 45 minutes!!! UGH! The handle melted half through and the little ball on top (which is also plastic) had melted down about 1/4 the way. The inside bottom was completely scotched and unusable...I may have shed more than a few tears.SO I threw it away...and my husband insisted on a whistling one so this didn't happen again. I loved you, little Calypso kettle...but our relationship was not meant to be.The moral of the story is, this is a GREAT little kettle - JUST DON'T BOIL IT DRY! And if you do DON'T PUT COOL/COLD WATER IN IT! Just let it cool by it's self. And all will be well; you'll have an adorable kettle that you'll be glad to keep on the stove top.ps. When purchasing another one I considered buying it again and also buying one of the bird whistles you put in the spout...but I didn't know if it would fit.

But I did anyway and I LOVE it! It says in the directions not to ...
I ALMOST didn’t purchase this due to the reviews of it melting & collapsibility. But I did anyway and I LOVE it! It says in the directions not to boil on high and other remedial instructions. As I wouldn’t let a toddler boil water due to a mishap, I would never boil water in ANYTHING unattended for a ridiculous amount of time. Worth every penny, cute design, & perfect if you’re making tea for two. I suppose if you need to be reminded you’re boiling something on a stove at scalding temperatures, set yourself an alarm.

No whistle; bad for forgetful people
Please note that I do not believe that what happened to this pot is the fault of the manufacturer or the seller, I just write this as a warning for those who tend to be forgetful.I bought this pot for my mother and she loved it. It worked well and looked beautiful enough to keep on the stove as decoration. However, I assumed that the pot would whistle. Most tea kettles do; I thought that was the whole point of having a tea kettle, for the whistle to tell you when it's done, otherwise you would just use a regular pot. But it's not the manufacturer's fault, it's my fault for not looking closely at the reviews. The problem is that my mother likes to just set the pot on the stove and do work around the house or get some work done from home at the computer while it gets to a boil, and a few days ago she totally forgot about it. She was getting some work done and it sat on the stove for over an hour with no whistle to remind her about it and the pot just... started melting. All the water evaporated and since the fire had nothing left to heat up, it attacked the pot. We've only had it a couple weeks so it's pretty disappointing. But once again, I don't blame the manufacturer, seller, or even my mother, it's my fault for not paying attention to the reviews.Don't let this deter you if you want this tea kettle, though. It's very pretty, and gets the job done. If you don't mind that it does not have a whistle, this is a good pot. Just be careful letting forgetful people use it.
