Sheaffer 100 Fountain Pen Fine Lacquer Black Bamboo Design

Very nice pen. Always loved Sheaffer (especially the older USA made pens; this one isn't). This is an economy pen but it is still worth it. Bamboo lacquer is pleasing, pen writes well, though it seems more a medium than the fine it is supposed to be. Though I'm using Sheaffer ink, it could be thin ink that runs too quickly. Overall, a great pen.

For the price, you get a pen with a lovely design, comfortable weight, and smooth writing. The grip is just metal, so that may take a little bit of adjustment. Also, I've read that the Sheaffer 100 transmits ink from the cartridge very slowly. This is true. At first, I was concerned that there might be a defect, but it just took a while for the ink to get through. This problem mainly occurs when you're filling the pen for the first time.The writing is so smooth. Twenty bucks is more than reasonable for this pen's performance.

The color looks like a black lacquer. Very sharp. The cap has a minimal air space cavity. I have let this pen sit for a couple of days and still work like new. The large ink refills provide extended use. I have replaced the cartridge 3 times without issue. I have never had a fountain pen that works as well as this one. Truly satisfied with this purchase.
