I hope this helps someone. About a year ago I got the copper IUD. I went from having NO period cramps ever and light, brief periods, to heavy long bleeding and unbearable pain. (They warned me about this but since I never had cramps before I really thought I was going to be an exception). 7 months in I was going to have it taken out when I came across Dong Quai at Whole Foods. I had read that it was a hormone balancing tea when I was looking to cure my acne years prior but when I found it in capsule form I started taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. On the 8th month post IUD, please hear me, I had NO PAIN WHATSOEVER. Dong Quai was the only thing I did differently because I hadn’t even been keeping up with my usual consistent workout regiment. My diet isn’t the best but I do eat very well, but that hadn't helped me at all for the first 7 months of having the IUD. I wish it could do the same for everyone! Women deal with a lot because of hormones. The good thing about dong Quai is that it’s an herb so there are no side effects.. at least for me.. and it didn’t bother me to take it on an empty stomach.
