Good for emergencies. Packaged in sturdy, vacuum-sealed packs.
I opened one of the packages and taste-tested the product. Its texture is like a thick, firm graham cracker that is dry and crumbly and it tastes good, semisweet. I consider it a perfect way to store food for emergencies and will share extra packs with my family. A long shelf life is a plus. I will keep it in my car and home.

Great buy!
There good to just pack with you if you walk alot. And the tin comes in handy for storing anything. They're not that bad either. I kinda like the taste. I will be buying more.

A good choice for a long hike
These are a compact ration bar. In texture they are are dense but crumbly - they don't break apart in the hand but do when bitten and are reduced to dust when chewed. Despite this, eating them doesn't provoke too strong of a thirst. In flavor, I'd say they are like a savory, mild shortbread cookie - like such a cookie made from ghee. There is no detectable flavor of pepper or salt, so far as I could tell. They are conveniently packaged two bars to a robust foil pack, with each bar individually wrapped with a thin plastic wrapping, just enough to keep the bars separate and free from sweat/dust until you are ready to eat them. Though thin, it can be removed in one piece, for the most part.I purchased these for two reasons - to keep in my car as an emergency food supply, and to keep in my pack to top off on clean energy. They seem to work well for the latter purpose; when I was climbing a mountain to see the total eclipse, I tested out a pair of bars to see how they supported the exertion. They were easy to remove and eat, left no residue and had no gastrointestinal effects, and provided enough energy that I didn't have to eat again for almost twelve hours. If I had any complaint, it would be that they are a bit expensive for what they are - they should be maybe half this price. It might be nice to get these individually wrapped, since they are 400 Calories each and you don't necessarily want to 800 Calories even if you are out on a tough hike. I'd prefer US-made ration bars to Chinese ones, and will see if any are available. They are, however, suitable to purpose.

Better than I thought
I ordered these in case of earthquake. It has a 20 year expiration date- not kidding. Very well packed- vacuum sealed. We ordered all 3 flavors- chocolate, peanut and "salty." The salty flavor I like best and it's not really a salty taste or at least not overly salty at all. I'm keeping a box for emergency and taking another "salty" box to work to munch on. Great purchase.

Still Pretty Good
Exactly would you would expect. It also tastes like a very light chocolate flavor, but bold. Close to a big dry Shortbread cookie.

Tins were damaged
I received this in 2024 and expiration says 2044, so 20 year shelf life upon receipt. Both tins were damaged, but one was crushed on one corner and the lid will not fit. Both lids were off when I received the box. The tins are very light duty. The food bars are well packaged and should sustain the shelf life indicated. They also indicate being made in China. Each foil pack contains 4 individually wrapped bars wrapped in a thin plastic film.

Good for its purpose
These appear to be a good buy. I tried one of them. As should be for a "survival ration" it tastes OK but not super delicious. This was the philosophy behind the "D Ration" "chocolate" bar of WWII. Any basic survival food should not taste like candy or it would be consumed too quickly. I found the taste slightly chocolate and the texture of a cracker. Each one is well package so you could throw a couple in a vehicle for emergencies. More than enough calories. This buy is a box of individually package bars which easily split into two bars per individual package. I consider it a good buy. The only possible negative is "made in China". I hope their quality control was good.
