Chakra Healing: A Beginner's Guide to Self-Healing Techniques that Balance the Chakras

Great for beginners
I am a practicing Hindu. I've studied chakras, Ayurveda, eastern philosophies for almost 20 Years. I love this book because it provides basic foundational knowledge on the chakras, meditations, stones, reflections, and the mind, body connections. I purchased this awhile back, and recently started rereading. My nephew has A.D.D., as do I, I wanted to introduce him to yoga, breathing exercises, and meditation, not the fluff they teach at school. One of the exercises she recommends is trying to feel the energy flow by using your hands to sense the flow of energy by moving your hands closer together, and wider apart while in a relaxed state. I used this with him, and his mom; it's simple, and they felt it, and understood my explanation of what the chakras are. This is written in easy to understand language, and she doesn't bombard you with too much info all at once. Highly recommend, if you are new to chakras or, the mind body connection, it can all be overwhelming to take in. One can be skeptical, this is more of a spiritual approach to living for some. She structured the book in an approachable way with exercises, reflections, and always recommends to move at your own pace with learning and processing the information. This type of information can be skeptical for those that haven't studied chakras or energy;I like that she was mindful of this idea held by some of her readers. Happy reading, and healing.

Informative and simple.
I'm really enjoying this book! It's pretty informative about the Chakras. It goes in depth of the possible symptoms of a blockage. It educates on the essential oils and or crystals that help heal or balance a specific chakra. This book also has yoga poses and information about specific crystals. It educates you on meditation and shows you how to do it. If you are having trouble with meditation there are great guided meditation videos on YouTube. Eventually you should be able to do it on your own.The only issue I have is the section about sacred healing spaces. It tells you to use white sage or Palo Santo to clear your space. Please do not use either! These are strictly for Native American people! These plants/herbs are sacred to their practices! Both of these are running low on availability and using these are cultural appropriation. Plus using sage will clear out all energy including the positive! And that will leave your space vulnerable for negative energy or even negative entities to enter. Also some people are not harvesting them in proper ways and even selling fake versions. So who knows what you are really getting.Instead of using sage or Palo Santo use juniper. It clears out the negative energy and creates a safe, protective, positive, and healing space. Juniper is energetically and physically detoxifying and will help you center yourself.

Handy Guide for Newbies and Refreshing Reminder for Those in the Know
In the interest of full disclosure, I will start right off by saying I'm not only a fan of this book and Margarita, but I'm also a patient who has benefited from sessions with her immensely. She is a very dedicated and passionate healer, who's amazing at what she does. She is always learning and expanding upon her skills and it certainly pays off!If anyone is familiar with Margarita's writing on her blog (Alcantara Acupuncture and Healing Arts) or any of the articles she's written for Mind Body Green or The Huffington Post on Integrative Healing, then most would already know what a warm and accessible writer she is. The same is true here. She breaks everything down about the chakras in terms that are easy to understand and remember.I'm familiar with the chakra system, but I really learned a lot of useful information here. The book is a quick and engaging read for anyone. It's divided into four chapters: the first explains what a chakra is and what each chakra governs, the second covers how to work with each of the chakras through meditation, crystals and essential oils, the third breaks down what issues or ailments may be related to which chakra and the fourth explains how the symptoms can be healed by balancing the chakras associated with it.There's also a handy section showing different yoga poses that can help further balance the chakras and a beautiful color section with pictures of the crystals mentioned through out the book. All in all, a very fun read for those who are already knowledgeable and a great primer for anyone who is curious about healing through the chakras.
