McCarter Coasters proudly offers limited edition absorbent clay coasters created by Shayne McCarter. The porous nature of the clay naturally absorbs moisture, and the natural cork backing protects your furniture. All of the coasters are hand-pressed, stained and fired at our facility in North Mississippi since 1995. They make wonderful housewarming gifts; surprise a close friend or relative with something artistic and practical at the same time! These stoneware coasters are extremely absorbent. Condensation from your glass will seep into the porous clay coaster and soak up any liquid. Normal use will render a long lasting coaster that will need very little care. After several years, if a stain should ever occur, run the coaster through the dishwasher. If the stain is still showing itself, apply a few drops of bleach on the surface, rinse with water and allow to dry. This will restore the coaster to its original condition.
