Beautiful, practical and worth every dollar!
I recently started a kitchen job as a prep cook at the headcourters of well known furniture and home production company. We serve at times over 100+ people daily, lots of prep work for the salad bar, deli station and the main course station.A coworker recommended Dalstrong so I went looking for the right knife... Saw this one and fell in love with the look, didn't think twice when I saw a 20% off coupon. I chose the Limited Edition "Dragon Skin" finished handle option, also called "Glacial Lightning". Came in a quality box, foam insert kept the knife and contents in place (prevented shipping damage). The knife sleeve looks to be leather, it's very beautiful and sleek. The knife is stunning in person, color option is superb with a unisex look... looks like dragon skin, also love the polished and frosted finish on the blade, looks sleek... Perfect weight, hits the sweet spot in balance and full control, having a full tang means everything, when buying quality, always get a full tang knife. Very very sharp out of the box, your onion slices will be paper thin, rollable...which I think this knife would be great for sushi and of course other delicate cuisine. This knife cuts through meat like butter, zero resistance. Grip feels great, but wear textured gloves when handling wet, the handle isnt textured, it's more of a glossy finish. The price pushes you to look for cheaper but a good kitchen knife is an investment and you could go through several cheap knives before going through 1 higher end knife. The Dalstrong Fire Frost 8" Chef Knife is the was to go in a commercial kitchen, especially being NSF certified, you get professional quality ordering certified. Also great for an at home chef or daily cooker, and with any knife... Know how to properly cut and use your kitchen tools, this knife can take a finger off or give you a few stitches.Highly Recommend!!!

Absolut perfection in balance, feel, look of the knife - Jewelry for your kitchen
Nice weight to the knife Balance is perfect. No bolster makes it easier to use and handle. This is absolute perfection. Obviously razor sharp out of the box. Highly recommended,

Loving it!
I'm not the best with knives but work in the restaurant industry and have learned how to treat them well. I've decided to delve into higher quality and forged knives. After some research Dalstrong seemed like a good way to go. Their online and professional reviews recognize the quality of the steel as well as their craftsmanship. They do suggest them as great starter knives. So I committed to a $100 test run with the knife I'll use the most (chef's). I did opt for the green because it still matches my kitchen but was $20 less. Yes, aesthetics and cost come into play.I will buy more of this set and will hate that they are white but aesthetics only matter so much.I mustered up the nerve to ask one of the chefs at the world renowned, James Beard Award winning restaurant I work at to give it a test run... I was afraid he'd tell me I wasted my money. He did not.He has a friend chef who loves Dalstrong, other than that no previous experience. I told him nothing of the reviews or anything. I gave him free use of it through a shift. His complaints: 1- too new. It was, out of the box and too sharp so would catch in plastic cutting boards they use for everything but butchering. I use well conditioned and maintained maple boards and don't need (or have the ability for) the speed and volume he does. I have no catching issues.2- The blade is too polished and gets slippery. I had read that in reviews here. I have not had wet or greasy hands, yet, while using it but have no problem sanding the handle if I need more grip.Other than that he loved it. The weight, the balance and the way it felt in his hand. The blade is solid and sure.I work in high end restaurants. I know what chef's make. Sure, the celeb chef/owner is raking it in, but they are not doing much on premise. The chefs who run the kitchens day in and day out are not making enough to use a $500 knife for work. Home, sure, but not with the abuse they go through day to day professionally. Knowing what he does I'm trusting his experience. Now, my review: I love it!!!!! It feels so perfect in my hand! Never having spent more than $60 on a knife SET this is a game changer. I never really knew what weight and balance really meant. I sharpened my cheap, stamped, lightweight knives and they were sharp and did the job. But this guy feels like an extension of me. So much less effort and so natural feeling to hold with a pinch grip.I will be buying the santaku and the paring knife, for sure. Probably others if this love affair continues.Maybe, someday, I'll dish out $300+ for something more renowned, just to see, but I feel pretty sure I can trust these knives to keep me happy enough to spend that money in less utilitarian ways ;-p

Amazing knife
I bought this knife as a gift. My wife is a chef and as one of the tools of trade it’s important to have the best tools. She loves the look and feeL of the knife. It’s nice and sharp and holds the edge really well. She prefers a knife with a little bit more weight to them but also appreciates the weight of this knife. It’s easy to clean. The balance of the handle vs blade ratio is nice. For a nice knife like this the money is well worth it.
