I bought it because I like the idea of a dry lubricant for lighter recoil guns, my carry gun (pocket & clothing lint) and my .22s due to their excessive lead and carbon buildup. These types of products take more effort and patience to apply, but they are worth it. You can actually feel your firearms function more smoothly after using them, and they make subsequent cleanings far easier to manage and take less time. This product is recommended highly for knives, while SMOOTH-KOTE is recommended for internal firearms parts. However, TUF-Glide can also be used for quick cleaning and light cleaning of firearms, and in fact the US Army uses the TUF-Cloth in the field for on-the-fly rifle and handgun cleaning, particularly in the desert, dusty environments of Iraq and Afghanistan. TUF-Cloth is a 100% lint-free microfiber cloth that is saturated in TUF-Glide and reusable.I prep the surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol as my solvent, which dries quickly, and then I apply SMOOTH-KOTE with a hobbyist paint brush to all disassembled internal parts. One warning, you can absolutely use SMOOTH-KOTE on the outside of your firearm too, but it dries to a charcoal grey color so most people do not do this. I don't. I run the TUF-Cloth over the outside metal parts after I've reassembled it, and I treat all inner parts with SMOOTH-KOTE. That's for a thorough cleaning. For quick cleanings, like if I'm just wanting to polish up the feed ramp, breach and chamber areas, I use the TUF-Glide pen oiler and some tight cotton swabs or small cleaning patches. It's excellent as a cleaner since it's suspended in mineral spirits, and it leaves behind a nice, dry, slick surface.This item's needle applicator has been great and this solution will not clog it. My only complaint about the SMOOTH-KOTE product is the needle applicator will clog if you don't use it for a few weeks and it dries out. This happened to me and I didn't realize it. I squeezed the bottle a little too hard and the stuff came flying out like a laser beam when the clog broke free, which stained my hands, cleaning mat and old t-shirt. Fortunately nothing of value, and I know better now. I actually like the smell of this too, but that's not to say it will be that way for everyone. Anyways, highly recommended product here if you have the patience to use it. I find "painting" my firearms parts to actually be quite relaxing. It's like ceramic figurines, but for dudes (mostly).

I bought this twice. The first one I got leaked 1/3 into its packaging. But I could still use the remaining 2/3 (it still slowly leaks out its back though).The second one arrived in perfect condition and still remains in its dry packaging. As a CDLP, it does the job to clean and lubricate my Spyderco and Benchmade folding knives. Smells sweet too.

This product has been top notch for 20 years, my old applicator finally gave up and needed to be replaced. Hoping to get the long service life out of this one as well. easy to use and can be refilled.

It works great for switchblade mechanisms.

I have had this lubricant for over 2 years because of how little is required to lubricate something very well. A good example of this would be my college dorm room's window. The window was sliding on the track very poorly making an awful sound but a small bead of this stuff quieted the window and made it glide on the track for the entire school year and until I eventually left. This stuff holds up very well and lubricates extremely well. I also use it on my watch to lubricate the links after I wash them, my knife's hinges, drawer tracks in the kitchen, you name it. I use this stuff all the time now when I have something small I need to lubricate, and I STILL have over half of the tube left. A little goes a long way with this stuff.

Update- This oil was great for a while, then the tip clogged for no apparent reason. I didn't drop it, bend it, or jab it into anything. I was always very careful with it because it seemed so delicate. I just put on the included rubber stopper and plastic cap.Once clogged I tried to clear it out with a needle, tweezers, and also with compressed air, but had no luck. So now I have over half of the oil left with no way to get it out other than pouring it all over itself through the opening not meant to be a spout.It was great at first, now it's just annoying and messy. If you like getting oil all over your knife because you're using a toothpick to apply it like a caveman, then get this one. :/Original review-Love it. This little tube has been plenty! A drop or two on each knife in my collection, and it still seems like I have the same amount I started with.The thin applicator needle works great.Don't accidentally smash the cap or bend the tube though. I could see this happening if carelessly thrown in a tool box.
