Incredible Read!
This is a great book if you are looking to expand your knowledge on Jim Morrison. Jerry Hopkins has another Morrison book from years before this one (I believe it's No one here gets out alive), and Hopkins begins this book by saying he has found numerous additional data and facts surrounding Morrison's life and added it to his previous material to create this book. So this is really where you need to start. It's an incredibly intriguing and easy read. In addition to Morrison, you learn a lot about The Doors and also all the people that Jim Morrison came into contact with and influenced or was influenced by.

Jim--in his own words
I have read just about every book ever published about Jim Morrison's life, and this is one of my favorites. Mainly because a good portion of this book is transcripts of interviews Jim did with various media people, reprinted in their entirety. My thoughts about Jim completely changed after reading this. Prior to this-I thought what was saddest about Losing Jim, was the music he might have gone on to do with The Doors had he not passed away. After reading this book, I now know that he was more than a lead singer/songwriter...he was a true visionary, he had an amazing mind. In the interviews he predicts so many things that now in the year 2012 we know to be true...I honestly believe that he was finished with the doors for good after the last record LA WOMAN was done...he may have come back from Paris, but I believe after reading this that he would have gone on to write books and more poetry and maybe made films, but it seems he was truly done with the music career after reading the interviews. He was so intelligent it just blew my mind. This book gave me the clearest picture of what Jim was like, rather than pure speculation that most of the other books about Jim are. If you want a clear insight into the mind of Morrison than read this book. The pictures in this book are some of the best too-some I had not seen before. Jim was a true visionary, and because of all the drama behind the band, and the rock star persona attributed to him, most people don't realize how smart he was...Get this book if you are a big Jim Morrison fan.
