Requirement for anyone with drop bar bikes, have ridden with this for over 5,000 miles!
I have spent much time researching the best way to incorporate a bike bell into a bike with drop bars; this was the best solution that I could find. You are able to position in a way that it does not obstruct your natural hand position on the drops which was something that was required for me. I have this on my bike ever since I got it and have had it on for over 5,000 miles and don't intend on removing it ever!

A must for drop bars.
Tried other bells on my aero drop bars, nothing worked. This fits perfectly, and doesn't interfere with my riding. People hear it just fine on a mixed-use trail. Great product.

Worth a shot, and a great seller
A further update! I've managed to get the bell installed and have given it some use. I *love* how it's literally at my fingertips without my having to move my hands. Two things to bear in mind: first, positioning the bell was a bit of a compromise. I found that if it sits in the ideal position for my thumb, it interferes somewhat with the ideal position for the rest of my hand. Second, I'm definitely in the "could be louder" camp for the volume. It's noticeably softer than the bell it replaced. But that may be unavoidable because a larger bell would be even trickier to position.OK, I'm upgrading my review to four stars because the seller was so patient in reaching out to me. There's definition a frustration factor in the design -- and the video they've made isn't as clear as it could be. But I would happily work with this seller again, now that I understand where the problem comes from. Basically, instead of trying to open the zip tie from the front (as I did), you need to open from the back, where there's a lot more leverage. It's hard to photograph because it's moving a tool into a hole in a black object -- but I can now understand how it'd work. And of course it's easy to forget as a consumer that on Amazon, you're often dealing with a very small business, not some giant manufacturer. My tone was much harsher than it should have been. I'm leaving it as I wrote it, however, more as a caution to me than anything else. What I wrote a few days ago: This is among the stupidest, most frustrating purchases that I have ever had the displeasure of making. I love the concept of the trigger bell. But the manufacturer’s decision to sell it with the zip tie already engaged makes this product utterly unusable. The first step, of course, is to disengage the zip tie. However, as I’ve shown in the photograph, there is simply no way to do so. Even the smallest flathead screwdriver I own—and, at some risk to my hands, my thinnest bladed paring knife—could get no leverage to dislodge the engaged zip tie. Moreover, the instructional video is shot at an angle that masks the incompetent design.Don’t buy this. Zero stars would be too many given my wasted time.

Great product that doesn't break the bank
Easy to install and use. I purchased two and am now purchasing two more. I use them on drop bar bikes, but I suspect they work equally well on flat bar bikes.

Everything it says it is!
This will quickly make a Mr. Bean bell ringer out of you! The sound is so delightful and has a long sustain. Easy to quickly quiet with just another touch. You can also learn to control the volume of your ring to be a bit less startling, say if you are carefully passing older folks closely. My bike has grip shifters, but I rarely come out of 2nd gear (large cogs) so I have it mounted directly on that hand and it fits snug. So nice to not have to let go of my handgrips just to alert others of my passing them. The black color blends nicely, so it won't attract thieves. The plastic is quite thick and sturdy, but my bike is stored inside, so I'm not sure how durable it is left in the elements over time. Overall, a very good value for your money.

Meh. Not very loud, had a bunch of installation issues, but OK
It's not super loud, but OK. Definitely not for traffic but perfect for riding in parks. When I tried to install it on the hood of my 105 STI shifter it scratched the rubber. Didn't do anything major, but I put a piece of tape under it anyway. The mounting side of the bell body is very curved- really intended for narrower/standard handlebars. I eventually figured out that I should mount it lower, so it sits below the main body of the hood. I was expecting to mount it flush/perpendicular to the main rubber body. The main problem is in that position the plastic strap will flex from and may interfere with braking. On my first ride I was very happy that the bell seemed very secure and was easily accessible both from the hoods and when in the drops. But I was also wondering why my front brake felt weird and wasn't working well. Basically you have to be careful to not tighten the bell strap too much. You have to find a balance between it not moving around but still able to flex and be loose enough to not interfere with the brake. This is only an issue when mounting to road bike hoods- and perhaps may not be a problem for other braking/shifting systems.I really wish there were some installation instructions or a link to an installation video on the package. Would have saved some time fiddling with it to get it mounted and to ring properly. It's not a difficult installation- but it is a bit quirky/fiddly and I didn't expect that from a simple accessory. The bell is fine- it may not be the loudest or cheapest out there - but it is a great idea. This is your only choice I know of if you want a bell on the hood. For that reason alone it may be worth dealing with the installation quirks.

Awesome bell for my gravel bike!
Excellent bell. Rings loud every time!Initially, I had hoped to mount this on my hoods, but I didn’t like it there. Decided it was fine on the top bar. Very easy to adjust. This one’s a winner!
