Briar Hill 25" Spring 2pk with 8 S Clips, 8 Gauge Metal Spring for Upholstery Chair Replacement

I purchased these springs to replace two that had broken on my cheaply made, four-year old Ashley sofa. Two springs had broken at the same time, under the same cushion. When you receive these, they are curved exactly as shown.Replacing the old springs was simple. After flipping the sofa over I discovered the clips holding the ends of the springs were on the cushion side, but still accessible. I opened the clips on both ends and removed the four spring assembly. It took some work but with patience, not really a big deal.Wear safety glasses when doing this as the loose springs can and will hit you in the face and arms. I have the scratches to prove it. I opened the clips on the cross brace wires using a straight screwdriver and a pair of groove-joint pliers. Again, patience here.I then replaced the broken spring pieces, closed the clips on the cross brace wires using the groove-joint pliers and replaced the one end. Be sure to squeeze each end clip with the groove joint pliers to close them as much as possible to prevent the ends from coming out.Here's the fun part. Have someone help you by holding the spring ends from moving around. One at a time secure each spring end in the clip and squeeze closed using the pliers. This might take some effort as you need to spread the springs against the curve.Then all that is left is to sit and enjoy your, like new, sofa.

I had a hard time locating the right size spring for my wife's rocker/glider, since the middle spring broke. I decided to get one that was larger, then cut it to size using my bolt cutters. It wasn't easy to install, especially in the middle of my living room floor, but I got it done. I asked my 10yo daughter to balance on the spring to help compress it, and I stretched it a little more to get the clamp situated over the chair frame, while my wife used the screw gun to secure the clamp to the frame. The new spring, which is in the middle, sits higher than the two original springs on the side, but it supports well and the seat cushion is thick enough to where it's not really noticeable. In hindsight, I probably should have replaced all three springs. Oh well, good enough for a 10+ year old chair.

The Zig Zag 25" spring I ordered was an 8 thickness rather than the smaller 9 which is on my chair. It worked just as well. I was able to use the old clips, so I didn't have to remove any of the upholstery. I am a little concerned the the clips won't hold such a strong spring. I bought bolt cutters to shorten the spring, and then it took strong arms (not mine) to push the springs into the clips. I couldn't find any furniture store to repair my chair in the area, and the seller wouldn't because the chair was over a year old. I am happy with the repair.

Well, the 8 gauge springs I ordered were too stiff for the seat I was trying to repair. No fault of the manufacturer but they only had this size in stock. Chris, the sales representative suggested that I try furniture webbing for this installation and that is what I am pursuing at this time. I may update this after I try the new install. In the meantime Chris had emailed me on Fathers Day which I think was awesome. Thanks/Joe V

So far so good. I used these to replace some worn out springs from my 10 year old cheap Ashley couch. I used the old clips from the old springs attached to the frame of the couch since they were still intact but I used these clips to secure the middle of the springs to the cross bar. I didn't use screws since there weren't any there originally from the factory, they had just wrapped the metal around and squeezed tightly together. So we did the same with some pliers. It does take a lot of muscle power to stretch these out and it takes 2 people to attach to the clips on the frame. I took the advice of the other reviewers and wore heavy gloves. Safety goggles are a good idea as well. We'll see how it holds up, but this is definitely an improvement so far.

A friend of mine asked me if I could fix his recliner chair,not knowing the problem,he showed me. I didn't know they made replacement springs,so I told him I'd look around. To my surprise I found you guys on the internet,you had exactly what was needed.So I ordered through Amazon,(great price),showed up when they said it would,which was no big deal,but appreciated. Took it over to my friends house,& had it replaced with no major problems at all! I had to cut to length,(when I do this again) I will be sure to have a pair of bolt cutters,the "zig zag" spring is made of hardened steel.All in all,I was very pleased with how nice of a repair job this actually was,it helps when you are given the right part. Oh & my friend is very happy he has his favorite chair again. . Will absolutely use this company if any further repairs come up.

I bought these long so I would have enough to work with. I ended up cutting off about 9". I should have ordered all 4 at once though but I wasn't sure this beefier spring would work or not. I used them to replace the drivers side power leather seat on my 2001 Monte Carlo SS. Had to use heat to bend the hook on one end and I reinforced the rear tabs since the sheet metal isn't very robust. I just used some small bolts and thick fender washers and I think it'll last longer than the car now. Of course the hardest thing to keep this from happening again is to lose some weight.
