Brewing America Glass Wine Thief for Brewing Wine - Hand Blown Borosilicate 3.3 Long and Narrow for Testing Brew- Made in the USA

I develop fermented products as part of my business (fermentation consultant). At any given time I have several parallel fermentations that require regular sampling. This thief allows me to sample from buckets easily and pour the product into a cilinder to measure specific gravity. It is hefty and easy to operate, plus its made from good thickness borosilicate glass. I had one sent over to me by Brewing America as part of a promotion. When I broke (it's glass, afterall), I bought another one the same day.A PSA: Clean it as soon as you're done using it, as there's almost no way of introducing a brush through it. I use a warm solution of PBW or OxiClean Free, followed by a rinse and a sanitizer.

Needed a wine thief so that I could check the gravity on a gallon of mead. Product works great and the cherry on top is that it’s American made.

Nice and thick borosilicate glass. Feels very sturdy and professional. Only gripe I have is the thumb hole does not seal very well and I have to squeeze the everliving crap out of my thumb or fingers to slow the stream out the bottom. Even then I have to have my cylinder at the ready because it drips a lot. Still better than try to pour out of a carboy or risk other methods. This one is by far and away the easiest to sanitize vs a pump or siphon so the drops are with it.

Really like this style Wine Thief. Very traditional look and style and great craftsmanship.Fit through the openings in my carboys for testing with no issues.Only downside is that it is made of glass and somewhat fragile.It the trade off from using plastic styles but I think worth it.

Nice glass work, long enough to reach into a carboy, easy to see levels in tube, easy to seal and release into test jar.

This item makes taking a sample so much easier! No more messing around trying to pour a sample out or trying to siphon a sample out. A game changer!
