Mindfulness is a big thing at the moment and is a good way to centre yourself, take time out and be calm, away from the seemingly 24/7 barrage of daily life. This focus timer aims to create space in your day to relax and recharge away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and the technology that comes along with it.The focus timer is beautifully made from glass, smooth and sensuous to the touch and mindfully packaged. Just handling the glass, turning over the timer, and seeing the smooth flow of the sand is relaxing in itself, and could be used alongside meditation and breathing and mindfulness exercises. I really like the idea of turning off technology and distractions and focussing on yourself for half an hour as the sand slowly, elegantly and inexorably flows through.At nearly £48 at the point of review, this may seem expensive, but it’s beautifully made elegant to look at and quite a talking point for visitors. O think this also makes a lovely present, which anyone who partakes of meditation and mindfulness will really appreciate. Five stars from me.

Now we live and work in a fast-moving world, where time appears to go nowhere and focus and concentration can be lost in the moment.Now ordinarily, 30 minutes might not sound like much, but 30 minutes(29m52s to be precise) can be long enough to achieve a lot more than you’d think. The timer gives a focal point to that time and it helps to focus the mind and to stay present as it slowly trickles and almost slows time down to a manageable pace, which allows for greater productivity in mind or work. That might sound silly as 30 minutes is still 30 minutes, but a productive 30 minutes where we allow ourselves to slow down and use that 30 minutes to its maximum, is 30 minutes well spent. Staying in the moment gives a feeling of calmness that is almost meditative and certainly helps with my ability to focus on whatever I’m doing with that half an hour.Now, some reviewers aren’t happy with the current price, but it’s a precision blown glass piece that is greater than the sum of its parts, and quality is never cheap, nor would I expect it to be. A great gift to yourself or a friend or loved one, that will be cherished as much as the time spent using it.I highly recommend it.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a fine hourglass promoting a means to put a pause on the world. A flip of this hourglass pours a stream of soft sand. Watching is enough to help you forget how external many of our issues lay while remembering the continuity of time that belongs to your defined actions. This hourglass records 5 minutes, a small time frame. The focus here is mindfulness which for this length seems perfect, enough to settle down and gain calmness and clarity. I still think, however, this would be a more useful hourglass if this recorded a long time to make this applicable for more than meditation, i.e. completing tasks using a sort of Pomodoro technique.Hence, while the hourglass feels premium, the packaging is good enough to gift, the price feels too high.

There are all sorts of timers available and any device can give us the ability to set a timer. The idea with this is that this is an analogue timer which would allow you to have a technology free 5 minute timer to just take 5 minutes, this could be for taking a mindful breath, a 5 minute workout, meditation or just a shut eye for a visualisation.This looks really great and you can of course get cheaper analogue timers. A key reason why I think this is great is the material it is created with is strong, it looks really good, the sand which is in essence glass beads has a constant flow through the timer.It is beautiful to watch and allows for a really nice technology break to just be present. Like with all the other products Intelligent Change have, this has also been built to a very high quality and standard and it looks good. I think it is important to have something that is aesthetically pleasing which can also encourage you to use it to take a break.I really like this and am using this at my work desk, taking mindful breaks where appropriate.

When I was offered this item for free to review I looked at the price and thought wow that’s a lot of money.Would I pay that……. Now initially no I wouldn’t but now I have received the 30 minute timer I really like it and sometimes I like to turn it and turn off the phone and just relax or speak with my partner.This alone is worth every penny of £50I timed it and it was close enough to 30 minutes for me considering what is involved in making it that’s a good effort.People have been quite interested in this since I’ve had it on the shelf in my front room.It is a little delicate maybe an active house with children and large pets running around I would worry about it getting smashed but in my house it has no danger of that.It came well packaged and delivered very fast as with most things on Amazon.Overall I’m now very happy I have this timer and would happily pay for it now knowing what I do.I hope this review has helped you with your purchase.

Wide base on both ends so will not tip over, would love a 1 hour version of this too

Auf meinem Schreibtisch möchte ich sie nicht mehr missen als dekorativen Motivator. Es ist einfach noch einmal etwas anderes einen dahinfließenden Sand anstatt auf eine Uhr zu schauen.Alles soweit gut bis auf:- Innere Kratzer oder Verschmutzungen- Sand klebt oftmals and Wand: Sandkorngröße wirkt nicht homogenDafür gibt's 4 Sterne mit tendentz zu 3, da ich für das Geld mehr erwarte. Gäbe es ein Konkurrenzprodukt für den gleichen Preis, würde ich es wohl eher damit probieren.

Äußerst schlichte, auf reine Funktion bedachte Gestaltung. Als Geschenk zu unauffällig. Farbiger Sand würde die optische Wirkung verbessern.Positiv: das verwendete Glas, kein Plastikmaterial.

High quality and looks great. Nice tiny grains of sand. Delicate blown glass. I bought this to use as a decoration. It would be great to be able to custom order these by how many minutes you’d like the time to last. 50 minutes would be perfect. I’d also order another in a lighter color of sand. 5x5 inches. Excellent purchase!
