Amazing
This pot is great for slow cooking. Clay pot nothing negative to say. It’s a good size fits good amount of food inside. Just be careful if you do get it. Cook at low temperature gradually increasing it otherwise it can crack if too hot.

A proper bean pot - Includes recipe for Traditional Boston Baked Beans
I was looking for a bean pot that I recalled from my childhood that my mom used to have. She'd make Boston Baked Beans and it took ALL DAY, but the time was so worth it! She used to say it's the ingredients and the proper equipment help make the food.So I got the equipment (the bean pot) and to my delight the pot comes with two New England recipes. New England Clam Chowder and Traditional Boston Baked Beans.I used it and it reminds me of my childhood days; it looks impressive on the dinner table and people know you've taken alot of time and effort for traditional Bston baked beans -It's great value for the money :)

EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED
Heavy weight. Well glazed. No chips or cracks.Four pieces. Two crocks and two lids.Crocks wrapped in bubble pack and lid separated by cardboard.Separated by cardboard and repeated packing for the other crock and lid.All inside a box, inside a box, inside a third box.In addition I've seen a lot of comments about the little hole in the bottom of the handles getting water in them during washing. The reason for the little hole is to vent the extremely hot air during the firing process. If the hole wasn't there the hot air would expand and have no place to go causing the handle to explode. You can plug that hole now or just put your thumb over it while washing to keep the water out.I just got them and have not used them yet. I will update this review if they disappoint me.Until then consider me 100% satisfied!Update: Made French onion soup. They worked out perfectly. A good portion size (15oz). Broiler safe. I had them under High Broil about 5 minutes. I would recommend hand washing them because food (cheese) gets under the lip of the bowls and I don't think a dishwasher could get to it.Overall rating: 5 stars, very satisfied.

Great pot to bake beans
Always wanted to try my Mother's baked beans recipe and finally got around to picking up this bean pot. Looks like a traditional "French-Candadian" bean pot that I grew up on having beans every Sat.Made my first batch and it was delicious. Brings back memories...

Good Bowls, But Too Expensive
These are nice and work well when I made my French Onion soup, but the price was high for just 2 bowls.

A childhoood memory brought back to life
I read reviews on several of the pots on Amazon, and finally decided on this one despite the comments about the handle lid. First off, upon receipt I was delighted to see that it was exactly as I had pictured in my memories from my childhood both in color and shape. These memories went back 6 decades. I washed and thoroughly checked for defects and found none. It was about 2 weeks before I and my wife prepared our first attempt at Home style Boston Bake Beans using an online recipe since we were waiting for our brothers to send or Moms recipe that has been handed down from our great-grandmother. Needless to say, because of misreading, we ended having to keep the beans in the oven for 12.5 hours instead of 6 hours. Needless to say, the bean pot performed flawlessly. True, the lid is almost impossible to grab by the knob with potholders since it is not indented enough, however, this presents no problem since you can lift an edge with a spoon or knife. If we at our age find no problem, then no one should. Common sense says do not use on top of the stove, and do not add cold to hot ceramic. It cleaned so easily, if you take the time to soak. And as it cooked, to have the smells wafting thru the home, and the visual delight each time I opened the oven to view the pot simmering and bubbling, was worth the expense. Better to buy the 41/2qt pot than the smaller, since we gave our neighbor some, and the left overs made great cold bean sandwiches..
