I love this item! My son is now at an age where he's curious about the outdoors, nature, birds and animals. (It's great going from reading about these things during bedtime to actually experiencing all this in real life). Lately he became interested in bats, so I started researching things we could do to "interact" with bats, and I learned all about bat boxes and how we could hang one somewhere appropriate outdoors.I found most of the designs to look pretty boxy, and while there some differentiation in color and wood type, they all look alike. This one here by Outdoor Oddities immediately caught my eye, being shaped like a coffin...and being a fan of play-on-words (in this case objects) I simply couldn't resist. I always love when I know I've found the "stand out" item in a class of products.Anyway, upon opening the box I was pleased to feel that the wood is ultra light but feels somehow very sturdy, like real wood should feel. I have to say too, some items come packed rather slipshod, but you can tell these folks took the time to make sure this was packaged right, which I appreciate.I've only just received this item, I'll return to this review to post more photos of when we get a chance to hang this outside. My son is already excited to "help the bats" and I'm excited for our next hike together with a special bat mission :)

The quality of this bat house is top notch and I love that it is shaped like a coffin. It was a gift for my husband and he loves it.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift and looks good.

I know it takes a while for the bats to make this their house but I haven't had any come into it yet. The wasp you have to watch for them cuz they like to make their nest in it. I do have bats around my home but they like going behind to trim which is okay. They say you're supposed to install on the Sunny side of the house, but the bats where they go into the trim is on the North side the house. So this summer I'm going to move it to the north side

I got this for my dad as a Father’s Day present. It looks amazing on his property. It was one of the sturdier looking options on Amazon, and definitely felt high quality in person.

I really like the design and have been trying to get some bats to hang out around to eat the mosquitos in the area. Build seems good and the quality is there. Big fan of it being shipped ready to hang. Looks great!

Got this box on a special 50% discount for being overstocked, supposedly. The box is a cute shape, but the hanging hardware and finish leave something to be desired. I did not trust a single D-ring to support wind, rain, and animals inside... so we affixed it with another screw through the bottom.
