Esschert Design DB40 Cast Iron Decorative Doorbell Brown

I have been trying for one year to find an appropriate doorbell for my home. I did not want to have to get an electrician to wire in one, or buy one of the wireless one. I have had a couple and was never very satisfied with their performance. Since I live in the country, and I have a small cottage, I wanted something that would blend in. I love my bell. It came quickly, it was easy to assemble, and mount on the house. It is perfect. I did have screws the perfect color and size, so mounting it was no problem. I would suggest the supplier include mounting screws, to make it easier on people that don't do a lot of DIY projects, and would need to go out just to purchase a couple of screws. I enjoy my bell so much, I even ring it just for fun when passing it.

Looks great and it's a good price. It didn't come with screws to install it, but that isn't a huge problem. You will receive the bell piece wrapped up next to the main frame of it. There will be the rope and inner piece separate. To hook up, there is a hook screwed into the main frame.... unscrew that.... put the inner piece on the hook. Then insert the hook back up through the bell (there's a hole) and screw into the frame. I was a bit puzzled at first about how to put this together.We are using this as a dinner bell for my son's playhouse, which is part of our swing set. We've been trying to "upgrade" the swing set playhouse so it has some of the fun features of the plastic playhouses that you can buy. We also added a mailbox and window box for flowers. It's very loud... should be fun, glad the playhouse is outdoors. Ha.

This bell is adorable!I got tired of yelling up the stairs for my teenagers to come down for dinner.Yes, I put it inside my house and really use it as a dinner bell!It's a great addition to my decor and it's functional.The bell is sturdy and plenty heavy.It sounds great and everyone in the house can hear it!I love this bell!

It was smaller than I expected. Lasted okay outside this winter, not sure how to really rate this item its cute when you get it though, kinda cheaply made though.

Got this for my neighbor as a gift and she loves it. Good quality and easy to install. The bell sound is plenty loud.

I wasn't sure this would be the "right" bell that would be loud enough for the kids to hear in our back woods, but I ordered it anyway to try it out. It seems like the ring will be loud enough (and not too high pitched that it's painful). It is very cute and easy to hang up once you find screws to drill in. Overall, I think it was a good purchase. We hung it up inside the screened in porch so hopefully will be somewhat weather protected. Great price.

I use this bell at the bottom of my stairs to call my kids for dinner or just to call them downstairs. It rings loud, installs easily (just use 3 of your own screws), and has been rather durable so far. I have been trying to find excuses to buy more of these... do I need a 'doorbell' to call the kids in from the yard, should I replace my traditional doorbell with this?, etc. Mostly, it is just fun and different and pretty old school.

This cast iron doorbell is perfect to put beside a garden gate. Sometimes friends and family come calling for a visit but you can't hear them when enjoying the back yard or garden. This bell has all the charm to nicley add to the outdoor decor while providing a practical way for people to alert you to their visit. The bell has held up in all kinds of weather (Canadian winter included) and will likely last many generations.
