38002 Pre filter for Honeywell Air Purifiers by All-Filters

The PreFilter arrived nicely packaged and on-time. The bulk material was unevenly cut, badly folded, and too narrow. This made it difficult or impossible to cut and fit precisely. It was also so narrow that it only one pre-filter could be made. And the velcro closures provided did not secure the pre-filter very well. I was disappointed that I had to waste my time cutting and trying to fit the bulk material - I would have preferred a factory pre-cut filter.

Seems just like my old one. The only problem is each sheet is half as big as the filter lengthways, so you have to use two. They give you four though. I had to use a strip of velcro I had laying around cut in half to bind the two strips together to the filter.

Compared to the one I bought at Wally World it is much better. It is as thick as the one that came with the machine and I even had some left over for my window unit after I wrapped my filter twice. I like to wrap it twice for better dust collection. There is nothing to complain about here. It is not factory Honeywell but it feels and acts just like a nice piece of activated carbon filter.Edit...I just ordered two more that were the same thickness as the one I bought from Wally World but I am not mad because for the price it is still a much better deal. I will just double my filter over just like the one I bought from Wally World...the difference...they were brought to my door for a few dollars less...convenience and price...win win...

I ordered these prefilters solely because it seems impossible to buy Honeywell branded ones. These are a somewhat universal fit for the round Honeywell air purifiers, but unlike the Honeywell branded universal filters you have to trim these with scissors to fit properly. They’re better than nothing at all, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the branded ones if I could find them at reasonable price.

If you don't run with scissors you could probably use them to cut this filter lengthwise into strips. My old 33002 pre-filter was 8" x 48 so if I cut straight I can get two nice pre-filters from this. If your filter is taller or shorter you may end up with more waste. This generic 38002 is becoming the only game in town as the original exact fit products are out of production and disappearing from shelves. Be careful who you buy from - some of the vendors loss lead on the product while charging more for freight than the value of the product.

This Honeywell Carbon filter works well as a pre filter for the round 11 inch D filter air cleaner and as a sheet for placing over the HVAC poly filter. Captures dust and odors.

I attached pictures to show the pre-filter that came with my air purifier and this one from Amazon. You can see my hand through the new filter, so it's obviously a thin imitation of the real ones. I decided to use two layers to try and make up for the lack of quality.

Less than half the price of one of the OEM pre filter and you have enough to make a second one.Use sharp scissors and cut it straight in order to have enough material to make a second one.
