Wtih a little tweak, perfect for the old Mac Pro Northbridge Heatsink
The heatsink retainer pins are notoriously cheap plastic on the original Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1 desktops. If you snip the top half of these clips off then razor blade the softer plastic on the middle piece in half, you wind up with a perfectly sized, perfectly fitting heatsink retainer pin. Just tried it on a CPU tray I got which had a broken clip and was causing the computer to crash from the high temps, replaced both clips to insure an even fit, worked great along with fresh thermal paste, no more computer freezes and temps are in normal operating range.

Great for your northbridge heat sync
Cut about 2/3 off the base, pop off the spring retainer/ plunger sleeve? then cut that in half. Put it back together and replace the old spring rivets holding down the heat sync on your MacPro 4,1/5,1. Then go live a carefree life knowing that your motherboard won’t self immolate due to a snapped piece of 13 year old plastic.

These are NOT exact replacements for Mac Pro 5,1 but…
These are advertised as being replacements for the Northbridge heatsink on Mac Pro cheesegraters. They’re too tall and while they will work, they require some modification to get there. First you must remove the plastic sleeve / stand-off that the spring sits in and cut it in half with very fine cutters, and then reinsert it. Next, use fine cutters to cut the top piece of plastic in half. Now they’re good. There’s a YouTube video by “The House of Moth” showing this exact procedure Pieces are good otherwise

Works on my Mac Pro 4,1>5,1 Northbridge Heatsink...
Needed to replace fasteners on my Mac Pro 4,1>5,1 Northbridge Heatsink. This fits the hole and the spring tension provides the right amount of "play" for any heat expansion. Just trim one of them to fit under your cpu heatsink. Snaps in easily allowing even tension across the two fasteners.

Perfect fix for 2009 MacPro
After 10 years one of the original pins failed. There are better designed and were a cheap fix for a still useable machine. Now to figure out to what to do with the other 48.

Design makes them very tall
I needed these for under some fans. The tops have about 1/4" of plastic that is not even used. I had to cut them off with wire cutters and even then it was a little tall.
