Easy install, perfect fit, works well, good value
Background story (this review is for hood struts for a Hyundai Sonata): Took my Mercedes in for routine service to a private garage a couple of years ago and noticed that my front hood was no longer holding itself up. Since I was already leaving my car for service, the garage asked if I wanted to have my hood shocks replaced at the same time. Without thinking (I did not bother to ask parts cost or service fee as it was a “impulse buy” and I figured it could not be that expensive, my fault), I had them go ahead and do the replacement. Ended up charging me $72 USD for the parts, with install “free” as a “complimentary” service. Not exactly the same comparison (apples to oranges, or Merc vs Hyundai), but more recently, when the engine hood struts on my Hyundai Sonata went out, I decided to buy the parts and just replace the struts myself (how tough can it be?).Ordered these hood shocks and paid $16.85 (parts, tax and shipping total) and parts arrived in 1 1/2 days via Amazon Prime! Took all of ten minutes to remove old struts and replace with these. Fit was perfect, works very well, and of course, excellent value so far. Even in this cold winter weather, the struts maintain enough pressure to keep the hood up easily and securely, just like when the car was new. I can attest to the somewhat heavy weight of the front engine hood on the Sonata when the old struts lost their seals and I had to lift and hold the hood in place with a stick when checking fluid levels. Basically, these struts, retaining clip design, and construction appear (at least superficially) to be exactly the same as the OEM struts. Again, at this time, they seem to be an excellent value (will see how long and how well the struts continue to successfully hold the hood up in time). Definitely 5 stars (at this time)!

Fitment
Had to swap the mounts that attach the lift supports to the hood for the old lift supports to the new lift supports. They screw off and screw off and on easily. No problem at all. Easier than sending them back and trying to find another pair for direct replacement. With that being g said they work as they should. Will follow up later as for as durability.
