It Works Like You Can't Believe!
I've been using this product for many years (decades to be exact) & it is as great as it ever was. There is no other brush & comb cleaner that I have used that works as quickly & so well. The brushes look like new - within minutes. Easy to use: Put some Ship-Shape in the sink with hot water, add your brushes & combs, & practically immediately, they are without hair & look like new. I was always amazed at the hairdresser's as they used this product. And it lasts forever. One box will be around for months as so little needs to be used. Apparently it can be used for other cleaning projects. That doesn't surprise me!

Wow! This is amazingly effective.
This stuff is fantastic! I used it to clean two old brushes that were caked with grime, and it got them sparking clean within half an hour. I cleaned as much hair as I could before soaking my brushes, but I couldn’t get out dust and a sort of grey griminess. This solution took care of that and left my brushes looking good as new, and I’ve had one of them for about 15 years.

Great cleaner
This product was recommended by my hairdresser to clean my hairbrushes & combs. It’s very easy to use, really cleans well & this bag will last a long time…worth the money. It also works good on my paint brushes (acrylic & alcohol ink).

Wonderful hair brush cleaner.
Was skeptical about how well this product would work but I do love my hairbrushes and they were looking pretty ratty and tacky. After cleaning the hair out as much as I could, I followed the directions for this product and after soaking it was like I had new brushes!

Does its job gently
First, you get a LOT for your money, probably a life time supply. Second, it basically softens wax so that it rinses off under the faucet. You wouldn't want it any stronger or it might damage the comb/brush. If you do want something stronger, use isopropyl alcohol 91% from the drug store. It will strip wax and oil right off, but may damage plastics.

Ship Shape Comb & Brush Cleaner actually works, but I have two caveats I will come to in the third and forth paragraphs. Anyone who has greasy hair knows not only can it be a pain to have to constantly wash their hair, but also an utter bane to clean the accumulated dried deposits from the teeth of combs and hair brushes. I have tried different soaps in an effort to remove deposits - including concentrated Fairy Liquid - but nothing has worked, often resulting in the physical removal process; both unpleasant and very time consuming. I have never liked cleaning my combs and hair brushes, so I have a collection of them and make sure I don't use a comb for more than two weeks maximum (ideally a week), before putting it aside for a collective wash when I have run out of them. The product is made in the USA and I received mine in a plastic bag with a clip seal for repeated use after opening. 2Ibs or 907.2 grms of soap is provided but the guidance instructions on the packet are crude; although others might say practical. The instruction advice is to add 2 tablespoons of soap to a gallon of warm water but it doesn't state whether the gallons referred to are US gallons (remember, it's made in the USA) or imperial gallons. Neither do I want to make up a gallon of solution just to wash half a dozen combs and two hair brushes; especially given the expense of the product and shipment cost! I calculated 11.72 grams of soap is required to make one litre of solution, and I wash my combs in an old sandwich tub. If your kitchen electronic scales only weigh to the nearest gram, round it up to 12 grams of soap per litre and calculate from thereon; depending on how much solution you want to make. So that's the first caveat. The second caveat: As well as dissolving dried grease deposits from combs and brushes effectively, it will also strip the branding gold paint/foil from Kent combs if soaked in the solution too long. If this doesn't bother you it won't be an issue. I am not able to give a guide to the time it takes to start stripping the gold branding from Kent combs, but I wouldn't soak any longer than ten minutes. However it is likely you won't have to soak for long if you regularly clean your combs. I use a nail brush for the purpose of cleaning between comb teeth and brush prongs but everyone will discover their own preferred method.

Exactly what I wanted. I love my wet brush but it does get dirty. After using this cleaner it's practically brand new.

I filled a big bucket with water and added the powder. Instructions are on the box (for quantities) but basically you remove all hairs from brushes and then soak them in the water with the powder. My water looked yellowish. I left mine overnight. The most stubborn residue on some combs (due to dry hairspray buildup) needed an extra manual clean after the soak (cleaning them with a small toothbrush or a wet cloth) but most combs and brushes came out sparkling clean. I personally rinsed all combs and brushes with water after the overnight soak. The combs and brushes did rinse some yellow water, so I fully recommend a thorough rinse. Tip: One of my brushes had the paint of the brush also removed by the soak. But this was one brush of the 12 or more I soaked. Still... The best product to clean all brushes and combs. The box is expensive (if we take into account the UK delivery) but it also lasts for ages. Delivery was quick. The box will last me for over a year. For me my overall opinion is... Fantastic product! I would buy again and would highly recommend!
