Actually, my son referred to this more than his FAR/AIM
When you do your oral exam and check ride, you're permitted to refer to your books and other reference material. Obviously there are many things you DO need to know off the top of your head. But for some answers, it's acceptable to know WHERE to find and produce the answer from. I wasn't going to write a review for this but I mentioned receiving the email from Amazon to my son and he told me that he used this book during his oral exam more than he referred to his FAR/AIM. If you're training to be a pilot you'll understand. Since he read through it cover to cover twice, he was very familiar with the content and order despite not having added any page tabs for reference. My son said the examiner wasn't exactly thrilled with this but he was also slightly amused so he let it go. After all, he DID have the correct answers. And since you're permitted to refer to any books you bring with you, he couldn't really fault him for it. Of course I can't recommend this strategy because every examiner is going to be different. But I can say it's certainly a DAMN good study guide!

Get this book.
This thing is great. It's packed with a ton of information, and lot of it the DPE will never ask about but it helps to build a strong knowledge base. I read this cover to cover 2 times and it made my oral a complete joke--this book really prepares for just about anything that you might be asked on the Private checkride (just be sure to also know your aircraft's systems) I 100% recommend. You don't NEED it to pass your checkride, but if you study with this you're pretty much guaranteed to.

Appropriate for oral exam knowledge
I only read part of this, also used Jason Schappert’s audio book and online ground school. Passed my oral without any issues. Questions are concise enough and answers are as you should be expected to know. I recommend using as many resources as you need, but this is definitely useful, will leave it in the office for others to reference for their checkride.

Most excellent for Private Pilot Oral
I borrowed this from someone for my Private Pilot Oral several years ago. It 100% covered everything discussed. Many of the discussions came directly from it. Years later I bought it as a reference for flight reviews, etc. and I have also purchased the IFR and Commercial versions of this text. It's just excellent.

1000% buy it
This thing was amazing! Extremely thorough and exceptionally better than the other guide I bought. I tried to cover a chapter a day for the last few weeks leading up to my check ride and felt much better prepared, my CFI mention this brand as well not knowing I’d bought it and said he used it for all his check rides. If you buy any study guide make it this one!

Out of date information
Great content and a must have for PPL students, however keep in mind this book contains a lot of out of date information. The source of weather data for pilots changed since this book was released and it can get confusing to distinguish between things you don't know and things you shouldn't learn because they don't apply anymore. Example: Aviation Area Forecast was discontinued in 2017 but this book still refers to it. There's many more example like this one and I hope the author will soon publish a revised version.

An outline for your Oral Test
2017 newly minted Private Pilot writing this so listen up. I used this guide as an outline to study for the Oral. As you should know with the ACS new standards, memorization alone will not let you become a pilot. You have to understanding the rationale behind the question and how it fits into a scenario based problem solving question. I found this valuable to use this as my starting point, then go to the AIM, then watch you tube videos on the specific subject of the question, then refer to my ASA written study book. I was successful and got a 100 from the FAA Inspector on the oral.

Highly Recommend
This was one study guide I used. Already ordered the IFR study guide as I felt this did a great job preparing me for my Private Pilot License! I highly recommend this book. I went through the book multiple times.
