LIFE-CHANGING!
I cannot say enough about this tool! I wanted to wait for about a month after purchasing it before writing a review so I could give a better opinion. Alone, it is a great product - but when combined with a good book on Trigger Point Therapy and a good Trigger Point Chart (the little one it comes with is pretty worthless), the results are life-changing! I had an L4 laminectomy in 2004. It was a very bad rupture and I was left with chronic pain and neuropathy, sciatica, etc. all these years. I have several areas of disc degeneration going on and scoliosis. The Dr.'s were of no help so I have always sought instead natural remedies like stretching, massage and chiropractic care and have spent untold thousands of dollars over the years. The longest I could get by without my Chiropractor was two weeks. I have not been to the Chiropractor in over a month now and don't really feel like I need to go yet. Normally, my muscles would be screaming for a massage right now since it's been over a month but they are just fine. Before using the "Buddy", my entire body would just hurt like I had Fibromyalgia or something. I had the good fortune to observe a Physical Therapy session on my granddaughter where the PT was testing her muscles to find the weaknesses. A light bulb came on for me and I started researching. First, I read the book (there are many available on Amazon) so I was able to understand the concept of Trigger Point Therapy better. Then I got to work on my Trigger points - both the major ones as well as many, "satellite" Trigger Points which had developed over the years all over my body. In addition, I used a tennis ball against a post to "roll" some of by back muscles and lateral muscles. Honestly, it hurt like heck for about three weeks and I almost gave up but I stuck with it and soon the pain was gone! I can lay my foot flatter on the floor and the muscles in that leg are now activated and supporting my back the way they should (my right leg and foot were hosed up from the ruptured disc). Blood flow has improved and the numbness is gone on the right side of my foot. When you release the Trigger Points, the muscles can relax and lengthen which allows you to then exercise and strengthen them. I will always have to be careful with and work on, my back. It is not magically "healed". But hopefully it will continue to improve as time goes on. Most body work revolves around relaxing the Trigger Points but professionals do not share this information with us and unless you go see them every couple days, those Trigger Points will not always go away. You have to work on them every day for a couple or few weeks to really get rid of them and enjoy the benefits (no pain!). I am ecstatic - no one can understand how limiting chronic pain can be and what it does to the spirit until they have experienced it for themselves. I am so happy to share this information with you and if even one person benefits the way I have after reading this, then it has been well worth my time to write this review. Knowledge is power people! Good luck to you -

Sturdy, effective muscle relief
This thing is sturdy, as advertised, definitely don't feel like this would bend or break even with strenuous use, it's fiberglass so that's expected. It's light enough to use with ease and built in such a way that it's pretty intuitive to use. I got the "Elite" model which has numbered knobs and comes with a rather large poster style chart on which knobs are effective for various areas of the body which was super helpful as a newcomer to using one of these devices. The device itself is shaped so it gets right to the problem area almost scary accurately. First thing I used this on was my shoulder blade and it hugged right into that spot perfectly with zero effort. Slight pressure to the cane really digs into the exact spot you want and relief to your kotted muscles soon follows. I quickly tried this on a variety of other muscle groups and it works wonders. I wouldn't necessarily call this a massager since it's not designed to roll across the skin but rather apply acute pressure to specific spots. If you suffer from chronic pain or have need for muscle relief, this is an excellent tool. Highly recommend.

Need an Extra Large Version of this Tool!
One of the greatest reasons I purchased this massaging tool is so I have a decent object large enough and shaped in ways that allow me to reach areas of my back, legs, feet, and even more accessible areas but with greater leverage than using my cane or straining to reach or get deep using a massage roller. This tool definitely fulfills that need for me. I am a 6 ft tall, 240 lb, 48 year old man who played multiple sports and worked physical labor outdoors year round growing up and then served in the Army as an Infantry Paratrooper and a Field Artillery Fire Sppt Officer - in other words, an adrenaline junkie. I injured my spine and hips badly in a parachuting accident, followed by a 2-level fusion surgery in 2002, a few other neurosurgical decompression jobs, and a more extensive 3-level fusion in Dec 2017 that has me now fused from L1 to S1 in all. Physical therapy, stretching, massage, and pain management essentially my full time job since medical retirement at age 34 in 2004. I could run a small PT clinic w all the gadgets, weights, bands, braces, and medical tools I have added to the collection over the years. My only complaints about this massaging tool are (1) some of the massaging points/knobs are so small and/or shaped in ways that just do not feel very comfortable and therapeutic for me, and (2) some of the locations and/or spacing of the massage knobs on the tool can be difficult to access, or they're too close together or to far apart to do what they're meant to do. One specific set of massage knobs I was hoping would be great for me but are nearly impossible for me to use is the pair of gumdrop shaped points along the main center length of the tool. They are supposed to be good for straddling the spine to massage up and down both sides of the spine. First, the little gumdrop points really dig in without much pressure, feeling quite narrow and sharp instead of being more rounded and smooth like a massage therapists thumbs and fingertips working along the spine. For me, a pair of larger, ball shaped or egg shaped massage points spaced maybe a tiny bit farther apart probably would feel good and allow me to self massage one of the most painful and important areas of my body that I simply cannot access without a tool like this. I keep working w the tool hoping I can figure out better placement and method of using the tool along my spine and sacroiliac joints, but those hard, pointy, little gumdrop shaped massage points just do not do it for me. Also, the pair of ball shaped massage knobs located in one of the 'S' bends of the tool that are meant to massage the neck are difficult for me to get into place, especially since I greatly would prefer to massage my neck while lying down in a supine or reclined position. Unfortunately, in order to align that pair of knobs w my cervical spine, the rest of the tool needs to extend behind me so I cannot lie in a comfortable position while massaging my neck. I must stand or sit on a small chair or bench w open space behind me so I can maneuver the tool into angles needed to access my neck, upper shoulders, and base of my skull w the pair of ball knobs. As I'm typing this and thinking about the company making a smaller version for smaller people, I can't help thinking that maybe they need to make a larger version for larger people. In fact, I intentionally was leaving out another thing that would make this tool better for me because it probably sounds silly to most. However, if my suggestion to make a larger version is taken seriously, I would like to add another suggestion. Almost every time I use this massage tool (at least once a day), I do so on the floor. Getting up from the floor is an exercise in caution w lots of focus on stability, balance, and maintaining good posture without bending, twisting, or pulling w my arms. I use the massage tool to help get to my knees, but then it's not long enough to use as a support to help me push up to a standing position. I have been working hard to leave my cane or crutches behind as I try to rehab and rebuild to a stronger, more stable and controlled level of fitness and mobility following the most recent spinal fusion surgery. Having the massage tool be about the same length as a walking cane for an average 6 ft tall man would be great! The various massage points could be spaced further apart, maybe more added, maybe larger size massage knobs, AND, if it could be used as a standing support, an extra large version of this massage tool could be nearly perfect! It's a good self massage tool, regardless. I just can't justify giving it 5 stars when it doesn't fit me as well as marketed.

Having had a bad back for numerous years now,I am at the end of my tether of trying to find products that will either help or cure. Not one has been successful....I've had Flexi bak, I've had a tennis ball plastic thing, I've had various heat belts that heat using magnets,I have a electric massager with heated balls no less,I have a posture corrector. I've always been put off this because of the £30 asking price and don't really see the point of cheaper imitations. Anyway,I got a gift card for Xmas rollso I took the plunge. Glad I did. Since I've used it ,I'm not saying I'm cured but my back feels so much better. Don't even know if I'm using it correctly.(I'm kinda sticking the balls in where I get pain, kneading the area for around 10 secs ,then releasing and apparently a surge of blood whooshes straight to the area, and aids the healing process. It sounds so simple and maybe it is because as I said previously,my back feels great. If you're unsure .....like I was.....take a punt. May be the best thing you do

I got this tool after seeing it in the trigger point therapy workbook by Clair and Amber Davies. I got that book after reading reviews for another trigger point tool. Both great buys. I was going to get the alternate and amazon's choice product for 20$ less but reading the reviews made me get the original. I have to say this material makes me think of plastic links we used to install on the Ford Taurus line way back. I once tried to break them with a heavy ball peen hammer and it was a no go. This material has very little give which makes using it to transfer pressure to your trigger points a breeze. I highly recommend getting this quality tool versus an alternate. The tool works great for trigger points. easy to put together. no wobble in the joint.

This is the best trigger point massager I have ever used. I’ve bought cheaper ones which ended up breaking and this body back buddy elite feels indestructible. The different knots let you hit all the muscle groups really deep with a lot of strength. 100% recommend
