Solid control surface - using it with Reaper
I purchased this on the off chance that it would work with my DAW (Reaper) for midi transport control (and I like 'real' knobs and faders) -- it works rather nicely. I'm particularly happy with having a "jog wheel" for positioning. Reaper (unfortunately) doesn't supply feedback to the surface, so the cool purple and green button lights do not change state, but the midi functions are solid. (useful tutorials on youtube about configuring midi control surfaces)Also plus: USB hub in the unit (to fan out to other surfaces etc.) and bolting on an MM-1 for more faders was also a success. While I'd be happy to have the eye-candy buttons lighting up - this works really well and for about the same money as a Korg nano it is a much more solid set of controls.

How Low Can You Go?
The infinite rotary encoders are probably the cheapest encoders ever built, and the fader could be better. The platter is nice, and the buttons work. Overall, it's a fun toy and a great way to introduce yourself to the world of scratch remixing without breaking the bank.

Bigger + Heavier than expected, feels very professional. Very firm buttons but does not natively work with serato pro.

It is a little bigger than I thought it would be but works just fine. I am using it for a different application than it was intended. I have a driver package that allows it to control Amateur Radio Equipment. Works very well.

The CMD PL-1 is great for the price, but it's an incomplete product.
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this controller for about $40 via an Amazon third party seller. I think this controller is fun but based on my testing. It is an incomplete product. It does have a few great features such as a capacitive (touch-sensitive) platter, "clickable" encoders and a somewhat premium build. It does come up short as a full featured controller which it is indirectly marketed as and will require you to purchase the BEHRINGER CMD MM-1 if you want the ability to crossfade between tracks or navigate through the file browser since the PL-1 does not allow this with the included software (Deckadance). The CMD PL-1 is basically a MIDI controller so it can be programmed using most DJ software although some may require you to know basic scripting/programming.In use the device felt solid, the encoders (knobs) felt a little cheap compared to the more robust BEHRINGER CMD STUDIO 4a but the overall experience was pretty good. The PL-1 although marketed as a standalone controller does require another (mixer) type controller for you to make the most of it, but as a secondary controller its a good addition to any Gig Bag also at its current price you don't really have much to lose.
