Revitalizes composite decking. Super easy to use.
Regarding the photos:Before - Tan/BrownDuring - WetAfter - Slightly Cedar/Red (The original color)I had to rebuild and replace portions of my 15 year-old deck. I also installed new posts, sleeves, railings, and facia. Anyway, the composite decking is still in great shape, but it was faded. I was going to use a tinted sealer, but the reviews were inconsistent. I used this Defy sealer three years ago, and I was satisfied with its performance. I knew what to expect. My deck is approximately 300 square feet including the steps. After thoroughly pressure washing the decking, I used 1.5 gallons of Defy to do one coat. Doing a second coat may be a waste of time, because in my experience, the product repels itself when it fully dries. Lay it on generously while it’s wet. You’ll know if it’s enough.I used a long handle and a 9”, 3/8” nap roller cover. You don’t really paint it on, you push on. That’s why by it’s so easy to do. Dip the roller in the tray like you do when you paint. Make a puddle of sealer and push it onto the decking (a 9” roller spans across the width of 1.5 planks on my deck). I pushed the sealer the of the length planks until the puddle was gone, and dipped the saturated roller back in tray and repeated. Then, I back-rolled the wet areas to make sure everything was covered. FYI: I did cut in with a paint brush and a small microfiber roller. I noticed that the cut-in areas came out slightly darker than the rest of the deck. It doesn’t look bad though. It dries to touch from 30 min to a couple hours. To be safe, let it dry overnight before you put your furniture back on the deck. I believe the instructions say 12 hours.I finished the deck last week. It has rained for several days this week, and the sealer is doing its job. You’ll know it’s working, because the deck will have water beads and puddles on it after it rains.

Just what we needed!
Our Timber Tec decking is about 15 years old, it’s lost its luster, looks dull, and absorbed water and dirt. We put a few coats of this on and our deck looks like new! It was simple to apply and didn’t have an odor. It dried completely, and water beaded up. That was 6 months ago, so now we’re into winter. The water still mostly beads up, I suspect that we’ll buy this again in the spring and reapply. I’m happy with the results.

Added life to expensive Trex
Sprayed on then rolled, pretty straight forward & easy, but I only got about 160sq. ft of coverage. No fault of the product, I think my deck was well overdue...just sayin.

Easy to Apply
I did a fair amount of research and this DEFY stuff kept coming up as the best so I decide to try it. Lots of prep time so I wanted to put down the best. This is a 20 year old original and never sealed Gray Treks Deck. It is 12' x 30' or 360 sq. ft.The stated coverage per container of 300 sq. ft. was the minimum so I bought 2 thinking it was more than enough. I was a little concerned as I started because the deck was taking quite a bit but I had enough to do 2 coats.Pictures are as follows: 1st was deck prepared, 2nd shows there was a distinction after applying & drying, 3rd was the pad & tray I used to apply, 4th is showing a little more than 1/2 of the 2nd. jug left after 1st coat and last picture is deck after 2nd coat. I have a small amount left. There were no overlap marks.I did have to do in-between the boards with a brush which was time consuming and tiring but necessary. The rest was done with the pad and was easy. The second coat obviously much easier and the coating went a much longer way.So my planks were fairly rough or porous which is why I did a second coat and I'm pleased with how it looks.I'm giving 5 stars for ease of application and looks and will return to review its durability at a later date.4-10-21It's Spring 2021. Our deck is on the North side of our house and after the fall & winter there is always significant mold & mildew especially nearest the house. This year there is none so this product works. I think prep is very important so I was diligent about this because I wanted to give it the best chance to work. It's said it will last a couple years so we'll see how it looks in Spring 2022. Right now I'm thrilled I don't have to power wash it.

Works Great
My Trex deck is only about a year and a half old but it gets used hard. This spring when cleaning it I had a hard time getting it clean. I tried scrubbing, outdoor cleaners, and pressure washing it. All three methods looked good while wet but then dried to still looking dirty and worn. Then I found this product. My deck looks better than new. It brought back the nice dark color and covered what I thought was dirt and grime. The best part is it helps prevent new messes dirty paw prints and shoe marks hardly show up and are easy to clean if they do. Right now I am unsure about the durability and longevity of the sealer but even if I have to do it once a year it was so easy to apply I will be happy to.Update* I still like the product and applied it again this year. The only thing I will complain about is longevity. I have pretty heavy use on my deck. This lasted about half the season maybe a little longer.

Extreme version but better than regular?
I have used this extreme version several times, as well as the regular sealer. Honestly, I don't see much difference in the endurance.I wish the composite stayed the same color as it is when the sealer is first applied. Unfortunately, any color restoration disappears when the product completely dries. It does not improve the appearance of any color fading. The Defy sealer does seal the decking, as you can see the water bead up after it cures. The most difficult part of the process is the cleaning and scrubbing. The sealer is quick and easy to apply.Buying this product is not any less expensive than buying products to maintain a wooden deck.If somebody tells you that composite decking is easier to maintain than wood, don't believe them. Composite is still a lot of work and annual maintenance.
