I was trying to do the same in my RAM truck but don’t let me, I can’t play YouTube video or Netflix. I will be able to car play with uconnect but just YouTube music, my Apple Music or answer phone calls.

My 2017 XT5 came with Apple Play installed. I used a USB to lightning connector from car to my iPhone. Everything worked as designed. However, I wanted to use CarPlay dongle and NOT HAVE to connect iPhone with lightning connector in XT5. FIrst time install of CarPlay into XT5 was a bit trying. WIFI is used between CarPlay & iPhone. Bluetooth is also used in install, but is disconnected once CarPlay & iPhone are properly connected. I am almost certain CarPlay will work in your Dodge
