Tastes better than average - pretty darned good - adjust the water quantity to match your taste.
Much better than your grocery store standard instant coffees. Almost a medium dark flavor (from a medium roast). Mixes easy even with room temperature water. Any complaints about this coffee's strength from "one packet", is rather silly - you always have to make a trial run with any dissolvable product to adjust water quantity - I like my coffee strong, so I use 6oz instead of 8oz of water. If I have to use two packets for some reason - that's the way it goes - no packet size would fit everyone's taste. Packets provide longevity and portability.

This is excellent!
As a long time Starbucks decaf Via user, I was skeptical of trying a different instant coffee because most taste like cheap dirt however prices on Vias have gone insane. This coffee is great. It does not taste like instant Folgers or other cheap crap. I am definitely switching to this.

I now prefer this instant over brewed coffee!
After purchasing to use on a vacation I realize that I enjoy it as much, if not more, than brewed coffee and it is certainly easier. The taste is amazing. I have served it to guests and they couldn't believe it was instant. It also dissolves so well you can use it to make iced coffee or frozen coffee drinks.

Great instant and compares to regular coffee
This instant decaf coffee is more delicious than a lot of regular beans I find in stores. Often times I prefer having a cup of this instant decaf coffee. It does matter what cup size you use and the amount of cream and sugar an so on. A medium size cup works great for me.

Delicious
A really good cup of coffee. For my large mugs I use two packets and a little sweetener to lighten the bitter aspect of good coffee flavor.

Comparing 5 Brands of Instant Coffee Packets
I like coffee that tastes like coffee beans, not like emaciated grocery store brands from the Fifties. I’ve always thought Starbucks fresh coffee tastes “burnt” so I stopped going there in favor of “The Human Bean” in Phoenix. And after reading about the owner of Starbucks, I did this subjective taste test to try and find an instant I could live with to “instantly” move away from giving my money to Starbucks Via. In my comparison of five brands, I used one teaspoon of instant and ¾ cup of hot water in each brand, kept it just black, and tasted it hot. Next, I added one teaspoon of heavy cream and 10 drops of Sweet Leaf brand vanilla-flavored extract and tasted it hot. Then, I waited until it cooled to room temp and tasted it again. Here are my personal findings with 5 being “worst”: 5. Waka Decaf – Slightly sour and brackish, tastes “instant” and gets worse as it cools. An absolute “no.” (1 packet per 8-10 oz.) 4. Jacobs Espresso – Watery, thin, and so “smooth” as to be tasteless, and they have the nerve to call this “espresso”? (No English instructions I could find—I guess they didn’t think it was worth the bother—and they’re probably right.) 3. Mt. Hagen Espresso – Also too smooth and lacking in taste, but has a wee more grunt and flavour than Jacobs. (1 packet per cup—I assume they mean 8 oz.) 2. Café Bustelo Espresso – Definitely better than the others but still “middle of the road” when it comes to true bean flavour. At least it tastes like coffee, even when cool. 1. Via Decaf Italian – IF you mix as instructed (1 packet per 8 oz.), it's too strong and has a slightly burnt taste . However, you can make a perfect travel mug of coffee by adding 16-20 ounces of hot water instead and just one packet of this very robust, powerful instant that actually tastes brewed. You also get two times more coffee for the money, via Via, because the packet makes such strong coffee. My tastebuds have failed to escape the Starbucks czar with this test, so maybe I should give those Fifties store brands another go.

Delicious and convenient
Wonderful smooth coffee flavor without the decaf. So convenient for a single cup.

Rich coffee flavour that isn't just a monotone. Unfortunately I'm not a sommelier so I don't have the words to describe it, but I don't get the wakefulness jolt after drinking this, and I still get to enjoy a good enough cuppa at my own convenience. The packets are really helpful for portioning and for keeping the granules dry until use, so this is always in my pantry cupboard somewhere when I'm desperate for a pick me up without the wakefulness. Side note - wife swears by this as coffee flavouring for her bakes as well, and since it's decaf, it's also very good for kids' bakes.

Although you still know it’s instant coffee, it’s excellent instant coffee: rich, round full-bodied flavor, in convenient single-serving packages. This is not your grandfather’s instant coffee.

Superb rich taste of coffee and handy to carry

Tasty and convenient. There are never any decaffeinated coffee in the resorts in the Caribbean so I brought my own. Easy to pack and strong enough for a good cup of coffee.

Delicious, fairtrade, organic, non-chemically decaffeinated! Have to drink decaf now, and make a pourover each day, but, want a quick hot cup when I wake up, so I buy some instant as well. Have tried many instant decafs, this is by FAR, the best yet! Seems expensive at first, but actually costs about 60 cents per cup. It is convenient in the pre measured packs. I like my coffee strong and use a little over a cup of boiling water. It has a bold, rich, espresso like flavour. My son don't drink decaf, and also thinks it's delicious, so that says a lot!
